Today we’d like to introduce you to Ally Diaz.
Hi Ally, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been passionate about beauty and helping people feel confident. I started my career in the beauty industry over 13 years ago, working my way up from a Beauty Advisor at Sephora to becoming an Assistant Manager for MAC Cosmetics. During that time, I learned not only the artistry behind makeup but also the importance of creating meaningful connections with clients and delivering an exceptional experience.
As much as I loved working in retail, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. I took a leap of faith and launched Beauty by Ally D, right after the Covid pandemic. Focusing on bridal beauty because I fell in love with being part of one of the most important days in a person’s life. There’s something incredibly special about helping a bride feel beautiful, confident, and truly herself before she walks down the aisle.
Since starting my business, I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of brides throughout Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, and beyond. I’ve also expanded into editorial, commercial, celebrity, and event makeup, working with brands and productions such as Louis Vuitton, Ducati, Warner Brothers, Coachella, and Stagecoach. While those opportunities have been exciting, bridal makeup has always remained at the heart of what I do.
Today, I’m proud to lead and work alongside a talented team of artists who share the same passion for creating a luxury, stress-free experience for every client. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how a love for makeup turned into a business that allows me to celebrate some of life’s biggest moments with people every single weekend. I’m excited to continue growing while staying true to the personalized experience that has always been the foundation of Beauty by Ally D.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges. Building a business from the ground up meant wearing every hat—artist, marketer, accountant, customer service representative, and business owner—all at the same time. There were seasons where I questioned myself, dealt with slow periods, invested in my business before seeing a return, and learned a lot through trial and error.
One of the biggest lessons has been realizing that talent alone isn’t enough to build a successful business. You also have to understand marketing, communication, client experience, and how to adapt in an ever-changing industry. Every challenge has taught me something valuable and helped me become a stronger business owner.
Looking back, I’m grateful for those difficult moments because they pushed me to grow. They taught me resilience, strengthened my confidence, and reminded me why I started in the first place. Today, I appreciate the journey just as much as the milestones, and I’m proud of the business I’ve built through hard work, consistency, and a genuine passion for serving my clients.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For me, makeup has never just been about makeup, it’s about helping people feel confident in themselves. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching someone’s entire energy change when they look in the mirror and truly love what they see. That’s what inspired me to build Beauty by Ally D.
Today, I specialize in luxury on-location bridal makeup throughout Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, and Southern California. My team and I have had the privilege of being part of hundreds of wedding mornings, and I never take that responsibility lightly. Being invited into such an intimate and emotional part of someone’s wedding day is something I genuinely cherish.
What sets us apart is the experience we create. Of course we want every bride to look beautiful, but we also want her to feel relaxed, supported, and completely taken care of. Wedding mornings can be hectic, so we strive to bring a calming presence, stay organized, and make getting ready one of the most enjoyable parts of the day.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the relationships we’ve built along the way. So much of our business comes from referrals, repeat families, and word of mouth, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted. It tells me that people remember not only the makeup, but how we made them feel.
At the end of the day, I want Beauty by Ally D to be known for more than beautiful makeup. I want people to remember the kindness, professionalism, and genuine care they experienced. If a bride walks down the aisle feeling like the most confident version of herself, then I know I’ve done my job.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success has definitely changed for me over the years. Early on, I thought it was about booking more weddings, working with big brands, or reaching certain milestones. While those accomplishments are incredibly rewarding, I’ve realized that success is so much more than that.
Today, I define success by the impact I have on others. It’s seeing a bride look in the mirror and smile because she feels beautiful and confident. It’s receiving a message months later saying I helped make someone’s wedding day even more special. It’s earning the trust of my clients, building lasting relationships, and creating a business that people are excited to recommend to their friends and family.
On a personal level, success also means having the freedom to build a life I love through something I’m genuinely passionate about. Being able to do what I love, work alongside an amazing team, and continue growing while staying true to my values is something I never take for granted.
If I can continue making people feel beautiful, creating meaningful experiences, and inspiring others to chase their own dreams, I’ll always consider that success.
