Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been interested in all things beauty. I began the Gavilan College Cosmetology Program in 2010 began building my clientele and porfolio. My weekends were consumed with special event makeup and hair clients. I had a blast. In 2012, I graduated and received my State Board License. After some time in a salon, I stepped into the service industry for a few years. I tended bar at multiple establishments and was enjoying the newly married life.
But after a poor encounter with an employer, I decided to dive back into what has always brought me the most joy, the beauty industry! I saw a demand for lashes in my community and thought with my love and attention to detail, this could be my next career move. After my first lash course, I immediately fell in love with the trade.
I became 2x certified through Novalash and was thrilled to introduce my small business to my hometown.
I began lashing out of The Beauty Lounge downtown Hollister in 2018.
In 2020, I opened up my own space above La Catrina Cantina downtown Hollister. My business was located there for 2 years!
Come 2023, I moved to 260 Tres Pinos Road, where Let’s Talk Lashes currently resides, inside Haileys Beauty Creations. I love it there. Shout out to Hailey!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
8 years in business and my love for lashing has yet to fade.
However, starting a family while sustaining and growing a lash business from scratch was no small undertaking.
My husband Aaron and I have 4 beautiful children. Cory (7) Jason (5) Theodore (3) and Mabel (2).
“4 under 5” is no joke! My clients have been the throughline through post partum depression and finding myself off and on again in motherhood.
They often thank me for helping them gain confidence, but they have helped me just as much!
A huge thank you to every client who returned as one of my “baddies” after each and every maternity leave.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Aside from being a licensed cosmetologist, I like to think I am known for punctuality, cleanliness, and professionalism.
I think my schedule sets me apart from most. My evening availability is something you don’t always come by.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Genuinity!
I genuinely care about how my clients feel when they’re in my space.
Everything from the scent in my diffuser, to the music playing on the radio is something I think about when setting up for my client to arrive. Ambience is everything.
I attribute these qualities (and others) to my longevity in this county.
