Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Pouchie.
Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To be brief, I came a long way from Louisiana as a Hurricane Katrina survivor. I come from background of having everything ripped away from me as a kid. My parents worked really hard. They started their own business, and of course that inspired me as I grew up to want to start my own. Louisiana doesn’t offer the vendor markets opportunities because it’s a rarity, normally at festivals or parades but out here in California, It was more attainable; to put myself in the scene of entrepreneurship. I just got laid off from my second job in August 2025 as a restaurant employee. That job fueled my shop which I had been running for a year at the time, but once I was kicked out of the field of fixed income, thank God, I decided I really wanted to pursue my business and make it into something bigger than what it was. Of course it’s still in the process of growth and obtaining systems but as the months pass, I see the potential that my company holds. I continue to be faithful in my dream. I’ve see the situations I’ve come from due to my perseverance so I will continue to apply that to my own goals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but I believe that’s part of the journey I firmly believe that if things are too good to be true, then they really are. I feel like those hardships. Those obstacles in those challenges are what create that fire and knowledge of love that you have for your business because you’re not letting anything stop you I’ve gone through plenty of rebrands which led to some indecision. Difficult customers and unsupportive people that made me question if I should even continue with what I’m working on, all in my time of building. And yet, I’m having to opportunity of being interviewed in recognition of all I’ve been fighting against for years. So much doubt, if that mindset can be overcome to be seen as manageable with ease, there’s more fear to be felt and overturned.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creative. I have a lot of things that I am great at and I love to do. My main accomplishment being my fashion house, Empress Market Co, started in the High Desert in CA during 2024. I have designed beautiful pieces of clothing, and continue to do so. Ihave create symbolic relics that are one of a kind and like no other. I have a special gift and love for creating art. Anything from music, to art, to fashion. I’m mostly known for being an entrepreneur. I’m beginning to run multiple businesses, but I’m just proud of the fact that through all of my heartache and hurt that I’ve gone through, all the tears and blood that have been put into my business. I am still full of ambition and faith, and knowing that everything will come into Fruition.
Any big plans?
Yes, very excited for next year. I plan on producing my first runway fashion show experience here in the high desert in the spring of 2027. It’s gonna be very exciting to run my own production, casting calls and especially the creative direction. I also plan to include my podcast on building systems, wealth and yourself. I’m in the process of writing my first self-mastery book, praying to publish by 2028. I plan for my company to grow larger and into separate divisions: fashion, education, small business acquisitions, talent agency, etc. of course that’s more so down the line in the future.
