Check Out Jose Tapia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Tapia.

Hi Jose, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started cutting hair at the early age of 13! I always been an artist growing up but sports quickly drifted me away from that. Cutting hair however was a form of art to me that I was heavily passionate about it early on. I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction I got obsessed with growing and getting better. I had dreams so big most didn’t understand. With grind grit commitment and determination I slowly climbed the ladder.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While in barber school I lost my dad, grandma and dad’s boss who we called grandpa with in 3 months. I went through a breakup and definitely changed my outlook on life. I made a commitment to forever make my father proud. I knew that I would one day become who I set out to be and I knew that patience was something I had to learn.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full time barber and barbershop owner. I specialize in designs and creative hairstyles. I’m known for “the drip hair design” I also am known for a creative beard design and winning many barber battles throughout my early years. Versatile is my middle name. I’ve achieved international fame early on and have been on many news channels and news articles for my creative hairstyles and hair designs.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve been so motivated myself that I actually shy’d away from mentors. But I do have some mentors that have helped me throughout my barber career. One being Jerry owner of west coast, where I worked for 7 years. He taught me a lot in being a barbershop owner. I’ve also had a couple of people that I’ve looked up to in the industry. One being Eric PACINOS he was a pioneer in the industry and has created a brand that has reached CVS and target. I’ve also carefully watched Jay majors the CEO of ct barber expo the biggest barber expo in the world.
