Long before the Bridgerton craze, I was completely enchanted by the elegance of tea time—the lacy gloves, dainty pastries, and beautiful china offered the perfect escape from my hectic life as a college student. When it came time to plan a friend’s baby shower, I was determined to recreate that magic on a budget. I went on an epic treasure hunt across Southern California, sourcing vintage teapots and cups from antique stores, thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales. The party was a massive success, and guests were so captivated by the tablescapes that I knew I couldn’t stop there. Now, through It’s My Tea Party, I share my curated collection to help you create your own unforgettable moments.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This business is not for the weak. Behind the beautiful tablescapes lie years of tough learning experiences—from unpaid bookings and missing items to a last-minute morning-of cancellation after I had already purchased a great number of custom china. Keeping delicate, vintage pieces entirely chip-free is a constant labor of love, especially as replacement costs continue to rise. Every hurdle taught me how to better protect my business. Refining my rental agreements allows me to safeguard these rare finds while continuing to guarantee a flawless experience for future hostesses.
