Check Out Michelle Flores’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Flores.

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in the beauty industry began over 14 years ago, and what started as a career eventually became something much more personal to me. Over the years, I discovered that what I loved most about being a lash artist wasn’t simply creating beautiful lashes. It was the connection I built with my clients and the confidence they walked out with.

As I gained experience, my approach to lash extensions evolved. I became especially passionate about creating customized, natural-looking lashes that complement each individual rather than giving everyone the same look. I also became very intentional about protecting the health and longevity of my clients’ natural lashes. To me, beautiful lashes should never come at the expense of the lashes underneath.

Couture Lash & Brow grew from that philosophy. I’m a one-person, small business, and I truly enjoy being able to give each client my full attention and create an experience that feels personal. After 14 years in this industry, I still love the artistry behind what I do, but I think what keeps me going is the trust my clients place in me.

For me, this business has never been about simply following beauty trends. It’s about helping women feel polished, confident, and beautiful in a way that still feels like themselves. That’s what I hope to bring to every appointment at Couture Lash & Brow.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve had to learn how to navigate the challenges that come with building something on your own. Being a one-person business means that I’m not only the artist, but also the scheduler, marketer, bookkeeper, customer service, and everything in between.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to keep moving forward during the slower seasons and not let those moments make me question the business I’ve worked so hard to build. The beauty industry is constantly changing, and social media has created a lot of pressure to keep up with trends and constantly reinvent yourself.

Over the years, I’ve learned that I don’t have to chase every trend. I’ve become much more confident in what I do best and in the type of experience I want to provide for my clients. I’ve learned to trust my experience, stay true to my standards, and focus on quality rather than simply trying to compete.

Being a small, independent business can certainly be challenging, but it has also taught me resilience. Every obstacle has pushed me to grow, become more adaptable, and appreciate the clients who continue to support me. I think those challenges are part of what has made me the business owner and artist I am today

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a licensed esthetician and certified master lash artist, and I’ve been specializing in lash extensions and beauty services for over 14 years. My specialty is creating customized, natural-looking lashes that are designed specifically for each client’s features, lifestyle, and natural lashes. I offer everything from classic and volume extensions to lash lifts, brow services, and waxing, but lashes are really where my heart is.

I’m known for a softer, more refined approach to lash extensions. I don’t believe beautiful lashes have to be dramatic or follow a one-size-fits-all trend. I take the time to look at each client’s natural lashes, eye shape, and overall features and create a look that enhances them rather than overpowering them. I’m especially passionate about lightweight, wispy styles that feel elegant and effortless.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the longevity of my career and the relationships I’ve built with my clients along the way. When someone continues to trust you with their lashes year after year, that means more to me than any trend or number on social media.

What sets Couture Lash & Brow apart is that it truly is a small, personal business. I’m the person you meet when you book, the person doing your lashes, and the person who gets to know you over time. There isn’t a revolving door of technicians. I’m able to give each client my full attention and really get to know what works for them.

I’m also very passionate about the health and sustainability of natural lashes. Extensions should enhance your natural lashes, not compromise them. I take pride in creating beautiful results while being mindful of maintaining the integrity of the natural lash. For me, that combination of artistry, experience, personalization, and care is what Couture Lash & Brow is all about.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think one of the best ways to find a mentor is to simply be willing to learn and to surround yourself with people who are doing things you admire. Early in my career, I learned so much by watching other artists, asking questions, taking classes, and being open to constructive criticism. Even after 14 years in the industry, I still believe there is always something new to learn.

For networking, I’ve found that genuine relationships are much more valuable than simply trying to collect contacts or promote yourself. Get to know other professionals in the beauty industry, support their work, refer clients when it makes sense, and be someone who is willing to help others as well. Some of the best opportunities can come from simply building good relationships and being consistent.

My biggest advice would be not to compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Social media can make it look like everyone else has figured everything out, but every successful business has had plenty of behind-the-scenes struggles that you don’t see. Find people who inspire you, learn from them, but still give yourself permission to develop your own style and path.

I also think a good mentor doesn’t necessarily have to be someone who does exactly what you do. Sometimes the most valuable lessons come from people who have simply built a business, overcome challenges, and learned how to stay true to themselves along the way.
