Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Cresson.
Hi Melanie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m originally from Sterling, VA and I have been dancing and performing since the age of three. I went to a performing arts college and got my BFA in jazz dance with a minor in film production. Right after graduating, I moved to Los Angeles in 2012. My very first LA audition was for the LA Follies and I booked it! I have been performing with them ever since and now I’ve taken on the role of Event Producer with the LA Follies. Along with my passion for dance, I have always had a love for film making. I have worked various jobs in the film and television industry as well. I have been a Script Supervisor on a few feature films and commercials, and I have been a Associate Producer on a bunch of television shows. I’ve always loved working in the entertainment industry and also being able to show off my creative side. In 2023, I started my own business named Melanie’s Champagne Skirts. I provide strolling champagne skirts for a variety of events including private events, corporate events, weddings, galas, fundraisers, and more! Helping my clients’ visions come to life is the best part of my job. There’s an endless amount of possibilities when it comes to providing entertainment for an event. I love what I do and now having my own business I get to collaborate with all kinds of artists.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a professional dancer it definitely has not always been easy. Injuries are pretty much guaranteed as a performer and I’ve definitely had my fair share of them. I had to have hip surgery on both hips while I was still in college. It was an extremely hard recovery but it was worth it to do the surgeries before moving out to LA to start my career. It was a tough experience but it showed me I was willing to do anything to make my dreams come true. I knew LA was where I belonged in order to pursue my dance and film passions, so getting that surgery was just a bump in the road to get there.
We’ve been impressed with Melanie’s Champagne Skirts, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is called Melanie’s Champagne Skirts and I started it in 2023. I provide strolling champagne skirts for every time of event – weddings, private events, corporate events, galas, fundraisers and anything else you can think of! I can tailor my skirt to suit the specific needs and preferences of my clients. With my extensive performance experience, I can create a memorable and exciting experience for everyone. One of the things that sets Melanie’s Champagne Skirts apart from other entertainers is my ability to engage with guests and create an unforgettable elegant experience. Walking into an event and seeing someone wearing 100 glasses of champagne is always a head turner!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is being truly happy in your career. It’s pursuing your dreams, even when that’s not the easiest path to take. Success to me is accomplishing something special that ignites a passion inside you.
