Community Highlights: Meet Stéphanie Laederich of Casa Lemon Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stéphanie Laederich.

Hi Stéphanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Stéphanie. I am French, and I moved to California three years ago after my husband was offered a professional opportunity here that we felt we couldn’t pass up.

Before that, I spent 10 years working in luxury hospitality, an industry I loved for its creativity, attention to detail, and focus on creating meaningful experiences for people. After the birth of my son, I felt a strong desire to build a professional life that would give me the freedom and flexibility to be fully present for him, while also allowing me to create something that was truly mine, with my own vision, rather than being limited by the structure of a traditional employee role.

Without any previous experience in real estate development, I bought a building in very poor condition in the south of France, kept only the original walls, and transformed it into a a six-unit boutique hotel residence for short-term rentals.
I managed every aspect of the project, from renovation and design choices to branding and operations, eventually turning it into a successful short-term rental business before selling it after relocating to California.

Moving to the United States opened a completely new chapter in my life. As I was settling into a new country, an unexpected opportunity came my way that brought together everything I had always loved: design, hospitality, lifestyle, and creating beautiful, meaningful spaces.
One day, my landlord came over for something completely unrelated. He looked around the house, complimented the way I had decorated it, and, without knowing anything about my background or asking for a single reference, asked if I would redesign one of his Airbnb properties. That first project led to another, and then another. Before I knew it, I had created Casa Lemon Studio.

Today, Casa Lemon Studio works with Airbnb and vacation rental owners to transform their properties into vacation destinations through thoughtful design and visual storytelling.

Looking back, I realize that every chapter of my journey, from luxury hospitality to renovating a boutique hotel, moving across the world, and starting over in California, has somehow prepared me for what I do today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Looking back, I actually think every meaningful step in my journey started with a challenge.

The first was deciding to renovate an old building with no experience in real estate development. It was a huge leap of faith. I had to learn everything from scratch, make countless decisions, solve problems every day, and trust that I would find a way forward. It taught me resilience and showed me that we often become capable only after we dare to begin.

The second challenge came when we moved to California. Because of our visa situation, my son and I went through a very challenging year filled with uncertainty, and I had to homeschool him, something I had never planned for. I kept myself incredibly busy, trying to adapt to this new life and create a sense of stability for my family, without realizing I was also pushing aside all the fears and emotions that came with such a major life change.
By the time he finally started school, I realized how emotionally and mentally exhausted I had become. After spending so much energy adapting to a new country and keeping everything going, everything I had been holding inside over the past year finally caught up with me, and that’s when I experienced what I can only describe as a form of burnout.

That was when yoga found its way back into my life, at a time when I needed it more than ever. It became a true turning point. It helped me reconnect with myself, become more aware of my emotions and thoughts, and learn to observe and welcome them without fear or resistance. It helped me rebuild a sense of inner stability, even when life feels uncertain.
This journey was so transformative that I decided to deepen my practice by completing a yoga teacher training program. Beyond learning how to teach, it allowed me to continue exploring how these teachings can enrich my everyday life.

Ironically, it was after that difficult period that everything began to fall into place. That inner reconnection gave me the clarity and confidence to create Casa Lemon Studio. Today, I don’t see those challenges as obstacles anymore. I see them as the experiences that prepared me for the life and business I have today. I’ve learned that the hardest moments often carry the greatest opportunities for growth, if we’re willing to stay open and trust the process.

I truly feel that this is only the beginning, and I’m excited to discover where this journey will lead next.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I believe vacation rentals should be more than places to stay, they should be places to feel. Through thoughtful design and visual storytelling, I help Airbnb and vacation rental owners transform their properties into destinations guests instantly connect with, allowing them stand out in a competitive market, attract more bookings, and support higher nightly rates.

What sets my approach apart is that I understand the guest experience from the inside. My background in luxury hospitality taught me that thoughtful details shapes the way guests feel and remember a place. Renovating and managing my own boutique hotel gave me firsthand insight into what it takes to create successful short-term rentals. And my lifelong passion for design, travel, and lifestyle naturally led me to visual storytelling.

Great guest experiences begin long before arrival, through the emotions a space evokes and the story it tells. Rather than simply decorating a property, I help owners reveal its personality and create a unique experience. Whether I’m designing a new listing, refreshing an existing property, or styling a property for a lifestyle photoshoot, every detail is carefully considered to create an emotional connection that allows future guests to imagine themselves in the space before they even arrive.

To me, the short-term rental business has never really been about properties, it’s about people. The property is simply the setting where meaningful experiences happen. That’s why one of my favorite parts of every project is designing lifestyle scenes, often around food, shared moments, and everyday rituals, because I believe people don’t just book a place; they book the feeling they hope to experience there.

What I love most about this work is that it brings together everything that has shaped my journey: hospitality, design, entrepreneurship, and creativity. Every project is different, and I genuinely enjoy helping property owners transform not only how their spaces look, but also how they’re perceived and experienced.

For me, Casa Lemon Studio is much more than a business. It is the natural expression of everything I’ve learned along the way and a daily reminder that when we follow what genuinely excites us, our experiences often come together in ways we could never have planned.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love working with Airbnb owners who care deeply about the experience they want to offer their guests and who understand that great design goes beyond aesthetics, it creates a feeling while also serving a strategic purpose.

Whether you’re looking to launch a new listing, refresh an existing property, or style your space for a lifestyle photoshoot that showcases it at its best, my goal is always the same: to reveal what makes each property unique and create a stronger connection with future guests.

I’m also always open to collaborating with vacation rental management companies, photographers, hospitality brands, and local businesses who share a passion for beautiful spaces, travel, and meaningful storytelling.

The best way to support my work is simply to follow along, share Casa Lemon Studio with someone who might benefit from it, or reach out if you have a project in mind.

I love meeting new people and seeing where genuine connections can lead!
