Hi Atisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Atisha Lee did not set out to build a career in botanical art. In high school, enrolling in a floristry elective seemed like nothing more than a creative detour on a path aimed squarely at pre-law and business.
Her instructor, however, saw past the casual curiosity. Recognizing an instinctive grasp of structural balance and effortless artistry, she urged Lee to put her talent to the test. That nudge propelled Lee straight into the high-stakes arena of SkillsUSA. Competing across regional, state, and national stages, she swept gold, silver, and bronze finishes, coming within a breath of representing the United States in Japan. The courtroom had lost its appeal; the craft had taken hold.
Lee entered the industry straight out of high school, ready to prove her mettle from the ground up. While she started with the gritty fundamentals scrubbing cold buckets, processing stems, and sweeping clipping-strewn floors her stay at the bottom was short-lived. Within just a few months, the shop owner, manager, and senior colleagues recognized an unmistakable gift at the design bench. Bypassing the traditional years-long wait, they elevated her directly into a floral designer role. Lee spent the next decade mastering the trade from within, advancing from designer to supervisor and eventually general manager.
Seeking to refine her technique further, Lee joined the esteemed studio Twigery in Carmel, collaborating with the late, nationally renowned designer Michael Merritt. The experience honed her eye for architectural form, European nuance, and grand floral concepts. After two decades of industry immersion led to a defining realization: the relentless grind of traditional commercial retail was encroaching on what mattered most.
Eight years ago, Lee became a mother. Navigating demanding retail schedules alongside early motherhood made her priorities sharply distinct. She refused to lose sight of the central plot of life: raising children with grounded, present parents who savor every milestone.
That conviction gave birth to Allure Floral Designs. Founded as an independent studio, the business allows Lee to practice high-level floral artistry on her own terms. Her two young children are fixtures in the studio, soaking in their mother’s encyclopedic knowledge of botanical varietals and eagerly lending small hands to prep workstations as her favorite little helpers.
Backed by decades of hard-earned respect in the floral industry, Lee pairs classical precision with an organic, modern sensibility. With Allure Floral Designs, she isn’t just delivering striking installations she is showing her children how passion, grit, and devotion can bloom side by side.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The beauty we see in full bloom is often shaped by the quiet storms weathered beneath the surface. My path here was neither paved nor easy; it was carved through grit, perseverance, and an unrelenting belief that our origins do not define our destinations.
Navigating life from childhood without either of my parents meant learning early how to be my own anchor. I encountered roadblocks that could have easily broken my spirit, but instead, they became the forge for my resilience. Every stumble taught me to stand taller; every triumph reminded me that hope is a choice we make again and again.
Through every season, I have relentlessly pursued greatness not out of ambition alone, but out of a sacred vow to myself and to my children. I promised them, and the young girl inside me who started arranging stems at fourteen, that no obstacle would keep me from building a life of purpose, artistry, and enduring success. Allure Floral Designs is more than a creative studio it is living proof that from the deepest cracks in the soil, something breathtaking and unbroken can always rise.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a floral designer and the owner of an independent floral studio. I create for weddings, corporate gatherings, birthdays, memorials, and every milestone in between. Above all, I am proud to have built a sustainable, enduring business in an industry rooted in such daily beauty.
My studio is based in a premier global destination where couples travel from all over the world to get married, naturally creating a crowded and competitive market. Yet, I don’t view floral design as a competition. Every artist brings something distinct to their craft, and I genuinely appreciate the shared threads that connect us as creators.
What defines my work isn’t a desire to outshine others; it’s pure intention and feeling. Everything I design comes straight from the heart. My goal is to translate an emotion into an arrangement without needing words allowing my clients to feel the depth of care behind every bloom, share in the vision, and experience floral art that is unmistakably personal.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My entire life has been built on taking risks. Long before I ever stepped into the business world, risk was simply the ground I walked on. I wasn’t handed an easy start. Raised without my biological parents, I was saved from the foster care system by an aunt whose fierce love and resilience shielded me from the odds stacked against me. She showed me what real strength looks like, instilling an independent, relentless work ethic that has guided me ever since. By 14, I was already balancing high school with a work co-op program, learning early that anything I wanted in this life, I would have to build myself.
Carrying the quiet weight of abandonment often meant wrestling with self-doubt—that lingering fear of never being “enough.” That vulnerability followed me into adulthood when I faced the heartbreaking uncertainty of infertility. Choosing to try again and again, refusing to surrender hope, was perhaps the greatest emotional gamble of my life. Holding my two healthy children today didn’t just heal old wounds; it permanently shifted how I view possibility.
Those trials didn’t break me—they forged me into a woman who stands tall, speaks with conviction, and takes no nonsense from life. Every opportunity I’ve said yes to, every path I’ve carved, has required stepping into the unknown. But without risk, there is no growth. I don’t believe in a final destination; I believe each milestone is merely a bridge to the next, proving time and time again that we are infinitely capable of exceeding our own dreams.
