Conversations with Cody Silva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Silva.

Hi Cody, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in the turbulent environment of 1990s Porterville, California, life was an uphill climb. Raised by a single mother who faced steep obstacles with resilience, the foundation for an extraordinary journey was quietly being laid. Despite the hardships, she nurtured a profound sense of self-expression, sharing her written poetry and encouraging a deep passion for music and video games. That early encouragement opened a window to a new perspective on life, forever altering the path ahead.

Chasing a fresh start, a move to Arizona marked the beginning of a relentless drive to reinvent the future. After graduating and heading to college, certifications in firefighting and EMS led to a dedicated, 14-year career serving the community. Yet, the creative calling never faded. Alongside close friends, a part-time passion project blossomed into “The Boombox”—a powerhouse record store and performance venue that brought the dream of a professional music career into reality.

When that venture eventually ran its course, the fight to keep The Boombox alive tested every limit, ultimately paving the way for the road ahead. Hitting the national stage, touring the country, selling out shows, and traveling the world with a budding rapper opened a thrilling new chapter.

Following the retirement from firefighting, the music and digital worlds took center stage full-time. Today, that lifelong momentum drives an eclectic, multi-faceted career: producing tracks for television, film, and top-tier hip-hop artists, broadcasting as a syndicated radio DJ and podcast host, lighting up digital screens as a dedicated live streamer, and even holding a prestigious 3rd-place world ranking in the legendary Super StarFox Weekend.

From the streets of Porterville to stages and airwaves worldwide, this is the story of a journey fueled by resilience, creativity, and an unyielding drive to stay Back in the Game.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was far from a smooth road. Growing up in poverty without a biological father meant instability was a constant companion. At times, life pulled away from home altogether, leaving grandparents to carry the heavy load of raising a child through a revolving door of ever-changing places, unstable environments, and shifting parenting styles.

Coming straight from the dirt also meant facing the harshest realities far too early, including the devastating loss of close friends in those formative years. Those early hardships carved deep scars, but they also forged the grit, resilience, and unyielding drive that ultimately transformed every single obstacle into fuel for the journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Resilience is what sets me apart, forged from coming up in poverty, losing friends too early, and fighting through every obstacle life threw my way. That unbreakable grit is the foundation for everything I’ve built: touring the world and charting on Billboard as a musician, rapping under the name Fresh C, and earning platinum producer status under the name Quixxotik as an entrepreneur. But it doesn’t stop in the studio or on stage—I bring that same competitive drive to the gaming world through Back in the Game Retro, streaming live on Kick, and proudly holding a 3rd place in the entire world record title from the StarFox Super Weekend. Whether I’m broadcasting my podcast, connecting with my community live, or diving deep into retro classics, I live to prove that no matter where you start or how many times the path shifts, you can always rewrite your story and win on your own terms.

What’s next?
My plans for the future are all about leveling up across the board. I’m gunning for even more trophies as a pro gamer, stacking up wins, and pushing my limits in retro competition. In the studio, I’m focused on dropping more of my own heavy-hitting music as Quixxotik and producing bigger records for other artists. At the same time, I’m pouring energy into growing my streams on Kick, bringing on bigger and better guests for Back in the Game, and chasing massive success in every single venture I touch. No slowing down—just bigger goals, better content, and winning on my own terms.
