Today we’d like to introduce you to Nic Wilson.
Hi Nic, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in Toronto, I was the quintessential happy-go-lucky Canadian kid. Hockey obsessed, endlessly energetic, and always chasing the next adventure. What started as a passion for music eventually led me into DJing and content creation, before a cancer diagnosis and profound personal loss reshaped my perspective on life. Through those experiences, I found a renewed sense of purpose in health, fitness, and storytelling, ultimately becoming a Global Ambassador for F45 while building a community centered on resilience, authenticity, and hope. Today, alongside my work in fitness, I’m pursuing my lifelong dream of acting in Los Angeles, embracing every opportunity to prove that reinvention is possible at any stage of life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road…and honestly, I don’t know many meaningful journeys that are. I’ve navigated a cancer diagnosis, the unexpected loss of my husband, and the many challenges that come with rebuilding your life after profound grief. Professionally, both fitness and acting are industries filled with uncertainty and rejection, so I’ve had to learn how to stay grounded and keep moving forward even when things don’t go my way. Those experiences haven’t always been easy, but they’ve given me perspective. Today, I have a much deeper appreciation for resilience, community, and the simple privilege of getting to pursue the things I love.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m fortunate to wear a few different hats professionally. I’m a Global Ambassador for F45, where I lead workshops, create content, and represent the brand at events around the world. Alongside that, I’m an actor based in Los Angeles, pursuing a lifelong passion for storytelling in film and television. I also have a background in music and DJing, which remains a creative outlet and another way I connect with people.
What I’m most proud of isn’t necessarily a title or career milestone, but the community I’ve built by showing up authentically. Whether sharing my experiences as a cancer survivor, navigating profound grief, or simply living openly as a queer man, I’ve always tried to lead with honesty, vulnerability, and hope.
I think what sets me apart is that I’ve never fit neatly into one box. I’ve been an athlete, DJ, cancer survivor, fitness ambassador, creator, and actor—and each chapter has informed the next. Those experiences have given me a unique perspective on resilience, reinvention, and human connection. Life can change in an instant, so I try to approach every opportunity with gratitude, curiosity, and a willingness to bet on myself.
What’s next?
I’m someone who has learned not to take anything for granted, so while I definitely have big goals, I’ve also become much better at appreciating the journey along the way. Professionally, I’m excited to continue growing my acting career. There are some exciting opportunities on the horizon, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this next chapter in film and television leads. Storytelling has always been at the heart of everything I do, and I’m eager to continue taking on projects that challenge me creatively and resonate with audiences.
I’m also looking forward to returning to music. DJing and producing have always been a huge part of who I am, and I’m excited to release new music and explore that creative side of myself again in the near future.
Beyond acting and music, I’m currently working on a book about grief inspired by my own experiences with loss. Writing has become an important part of my healing process, and my hope is that sharing my story will help others feel seen, supported, and a little less alone in their own journeys.
More than anything, I’m excited to keep evolving. The last few years have taught me that life rarely unfolds exactly as planned, and some of the most meaningful opportunities come from unexpected places. So while I have ambitious goals, I’m staying open to wherever the next chapter leads. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that reinvention is always possible.
