Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Trotter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Trotter.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After getting my associates degree in Fashion Design I began an internship at Ericka Engelman Couture in Carmel. I worked for Ericka absorbing fitting and alteration knowledge for several years before beginning my solo Bridal alterations business. I started with offering clothing customization and alterations of all kinds, not only bridal. In the last few years I have added a complete line of retail Bridal gowns. And I am now a full service Bridal Boutique offering off the rack and orderable bridal gowns with in house formal alterations.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles along the way have been in learning how to value the sewing skill set that I offer. All of my growth over the years has been word of mouth from my trusting brides and alterations clients. No success is overnight, but comes from treating your clients with love and respect.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am proud of my business Redefined Bridal that I have built from the ground up. My bridal shop is a full service boutique where I work one on one with my brides to find or create for them the perfect dress. We start with a shopping experience where I am their stylist. We choose several gowns from our racks for them to try on and find their dream wedding dress. My main specialty is Bridal alterations, which I believe sets my shop apart from many others. I’m not only my brides stylist, but their seamstress and know what can and can’t be done with a wedding dress. I love getting to be a part of the whole dress shopping experience.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Helping my brides vision come to life brings me so much joy. I love getting to play dress up with my brides and give them their perfect look and fit.
