Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Chi.
Hi Dylan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Dylan, and I’m a competitive ballroom dancer. My dance journey started in a funny and unexpected way. When I was little, I used to dance around my room every day, always shaking my hips and moving to the music. My mom noticed how much I loved dancing and thought I might have a natural talent for it, so she enrolled me in a ballroom dance studio.
From my very first class, I fell in love with dancing. What started as a fun hobby quickly became my passion. Through years of hard work, dedication, and training, I became both a U.S. Ballroom Dance Champion and a Taiwan Ballroom Dance Champion.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There were many times when I struggled to understand certain techniques or movements that my teachers were trying to teach me. Sometimes I felt frustrated because I couldn’t perform the steps the way I wanted to.
Instead of giving up I kept practicing, asked questions, and trusted the learning process. Those challenges made me more patient. Looking back, overcoming those struggles helped me become a stronger dancer and eventually achieve my goals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a professional ballroom dancer. And I’m Taiwan National Ballroom Dance Champion and a U.S. Ballroom Dance Champion. I specialize in both competing at the international level and teaching ballroom dance to students of all ages and skill levels. My goal is not only to achieve success in competition but also to inspire others through dance.
One thing I am most proud of is my confidence. I have worked hard to become comfortable performing in front of both large audiences and cameras. Dancing in front of people can be intimidating, but I enjoy sharing my passion and expressing myself through every performance.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
