Hi LM Treasures, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
LM Treasures is the place to find the hard to find! Founded in 1999, this woman-owned family enterprise has evolved into one of the premier distributors of life-sized statues in the United States.
The founder, Linda, built the business from the ground up while balancing the full-time demands of raising two children. What began as a modest garage operation—selling just a handful of items on eBay—soon flourished with the support of her husband, Michael. While maintaining his own full-time career, Michael dedicated his evenings and weekends to crafting props and helping Linda establish the bedrock for what has become an extraordinarily unique venture.
In time, the next generation stepped forward to nurture the family legacy. Joining the business full-time, her children brought a vibrant, contemporary vision to the company. Her son, Parker, stepped into the role of Vice President, successfully managing sales, custom commissions, and a bold new venture into licensed merchandise. While, her daughter, Krystal, took over the rental department, expertly handling local operations while fostering deep, meaningful relationships within the vendor community.
Sadly, Michael was diagnosis with ALS in 2023, Michael ultimately passed away two years later, in January 2025. Though his physical presence is deeply missed, his spirit lives on through the vibrant, ever-evolving legacy he worked so hard to help build with his wife.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a prop business sounds glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes, it’s been a relentless juggling act of chaos and quality control. On any given day, we are juggling the intense pressure of last-minute rush orders from production teams who needed a hyper-specific item “yesterday,” forcing us into overdrive to meet impossible deadlines. Just when we think we’ve managed the chaos, we open a notification only to find a critical, painstakingly crafted piece has been damaged during shipping, leaving us to scramble for a quick fix while absorbing the financial hit. Compounding this stress are the massive bulk orders that stretch our company’s capacity to its absolute limit; trying to maintain impeccable quality control and consistency across hundreds of items—while managing tight storage space and mounting supply costs—turns our passion project into a grueling test of endurance.
