Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcel Balladares.
Marcel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out as a DJ almost 15 years ago now and over the years slowly progressed from a DJ and Promotions team leader into an event organizer and eventual clothing brand owner, while simultaneously going to school and obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Cal State LA.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all, everything from being underpaid and overlooked to not being to make it to gigs because of transportation issues and all the while going to school throughout the entire time to be able to graduate in 2023.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am and have been a DJ for over 10 years, I’ve led a marketing and promotions team since 2017 and from that have become a clothing brand owner and operator that officially developed and debuted 2021. I’m proud of all the incredible gigs I have been blessed to over the years, the network I’ve been able to create and maintain, and the creation of my brand from idea to paper to tangible products since around Los Angeles County and other parts of the US. I would say my drive, creativity, and level of initiative has set me apart from most within my field towards being a strong self starter.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I wouldn’t consider it luck but making it a point to be out at as many different events as possible, definitely helped me become more recognizable and memorable amongst people through the entire nightlife entertainment industry and other industries adjacent.
