Hi Ulrich, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
One day I walked on this property (which was for sale). I was stunned by the incredible views and the beauty of this property. I thought it would be great to have an educational/cultural retreat center here. But I had no money! But I asked friends to give me loans. It worked. And after 34 years the Ojai Retreat and Inn is now “flourishing”!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was very difficult, with a lot of financial challenges! Also, Ventura County refused to allow us to add more units on our 5 acres property. After 34 years, they now finally changed their mind and allow us to add more units.

I have an M.A. in Education, and I am an expert in organizing seminars and retreats for adults.
