Exploring Life & Business with Charissa Shaoul of Rissa’s Heartfelt Kitchens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charissa Shaoul.

Hi Charissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was drawn to Kitchen Design over 20 years ago, loving how it gives a strong relationship with clients to create a unique, warm atmosphere that they will live with for decades. Every space is so different, each client has their affinites and dislikes so I am never bored! After 20 years working at the same design firm, and being the only kitchen designer there, I took the brave leap to go out on my own. My hopes that my past contractors, and clients trust to continue to refer me to friends has been so wonderfully fulfilled!! I am so Thankful! It has been barely over two years and I went from working out of my car for a few months to a tiny office, and now building my own showroom downtown in old town Monterey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been smooth….there were some contractors who maybe weren’t sure if they could trust a brand new out of the ground business, I get that as you want to know there won’t be any issues on such big purchases. Also, going out on my own meant taking on the parts I don’t enjoy! Paperwork, advertising, capitol for new displays…but it is so worth it. As in every industry I bet there are heartbreaks but there are also these beautiful spaces that I get to be a part of building with different contractor teams working to create someone’s dream home. I look at my business still standing and growing to be my success story!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Rissa’s Heartfelt Kitchens?
Rissa’s Heartfelt Kitchens is a Boutique Design Cabinetry Showroom specializing in spatial planning and an array of different cabinet lines. We cover all price tiers as each project has different needs. The main object of RHK is to help create a unique space that will remain timeless. From kitchens, vanities, pantries, doggie rooms (yes!) and offices, etc. Quality materials, emphasis on functionality as well as the aesthetic outcome. Critical reviews of options to make sure everything has been thought through. What sets RHK apart from others is how much we care about the outcome, not just getting another project, but wanting our client’s to be heard so that their visions are carried throughout. True creativity isn’t producing new material in my opinion, but to take someone’s interests, inspirations and work that into the concept. While RHK works across all the different genres for style we are known for clean, classic lines that allow homeowners to feel comfortable in their spaces.

Any big plans?
New showroom displays have just been installed with more coming…..the plans are to get RHK’s name out there and easily found. Still have past client’s who don’t know how to locate my business!
