Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Fae Stadler.
Hi Olivia Fae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It took me a decade to break free of the “golden handcuffs” of my first career. It paid well and I was good at it, but I yearned for something more meaningful and fulfilling to me. Looking back, psychotherapy was always my calling, but it took me a while to more fully discover myself. Now I love the work I do, and value the unique privilege of connecting deeply with people I may not otherwise ever encounter. My work is enriched by the valuable experience I gained as a web designer/developer in corporate and non-profit sectors.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting over with a new career after walking away from a successful one was a humbling experience. Had I known how hard it would be to put myself through graduate school and volunteer at multiple internships to earn my 3000 hours toward licensure, I might not have even tried. Thank goodness I was so naive, because once I started, I was committed to seeing the process through to the finish line. I’m so grateful to be where I am today as a result.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Embodied Psychotherapy?
In a world saturated with online therapy platforms offering a “fast food” version of therapy, I offer the attuned experience of contacting my clients’ vulnerability with the utmost safety and care. I use the therapeutic relationship itself as a workshop to repair attachment wounding and build confidence practicing new ways of relating. I also bring in body awareness as an access point to trauma that cognitive understanding alone can’t shift. The deeper work of repairing developmental trauma and C-PTSD can’t be done without the containment of a trusted witness and guide. I’m a trauma specialist for both individual therapy and couples working to improve their relationships. I’m a firm believer in the somatic, transpersonal, and relational models that I’ve trained in. In addition to being Hakomi certified, I draw from a broad range of extensive training that incorporates parts work, guided visualization, and much more beyond the basic skills of empathy and reflection.
How do you define success?
Success to me means enjoying what I do, who I spend time with, and having the financial stability to focus on continual growth as a clinician. It’s rewarding to watch my clients grow until they are ready to leave the nest.
