Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Adler.
Hi Emma, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from Cal Poly in 2020 and started my career in the wine industry before my now husband and I moved to the Maldives to work in luxury hospitality. Living and working there gave me an appreciation for exceptional service and thoughtful details.
When we returned to San Luis Obispo, I went back to the wine industry and also started working for a local wedding planner. Around the same time, I was planning my own wedding, which sparked the idea to start my own business. It felt like the perfect way to combine my hospitality background with my knack for organization, creativity, and bringing people together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started Emmy Lou Events while working a full-time remote corporate job.
My days looked like ~8 hours at my desk doing my 9 to 5 job, followed by another several hours building my business from scratch. I was creating my website, building a social media presence, designing client documents, learning about taxes, networking at industry events, and eventually, meeting with my very first clients.
There were definitely days when I felt like my brain was going to explode.
Eventually, I reached the point where I felt confident enough to leave the security of my corporate job and pursue wedding planning full-time. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I offer full or partial wedding planning and design services.
At their heart, weddings are about connection, bringing two people and their favorite people together to celebrate. I believe the best weddings feel less like a production and more like a collection of meaningful moments rooted in love, intention, and authenticity. My goal is to create an experience where my couples can be fully present, knowing every detail has been thoughtfully planned.
What sets Emmy Lou Events apart is my eye for design and my attention to detail. I love taking a couple’s vision, even if it’s just a handful of Pinterest photos, and transforming it into something cohesive, intentional, and uniquely theirs. I’m also someone who truly goes above and beyond for my clients. Whether it’s solving problems behind the scenes or perfecting the smallest design details, I’m committed to creating an experience that feels effortless.
More than anything, I’m proud of the relationships I build with my couples. Being trusted with one of the most important days of someone’s life is an incredible honor, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing everything come together on wedding day and watching my clients have the best day ever with the people they love the most!
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the people you surround yourself with make all the difference. An amazing vendor team who truly cares can completely transform a wedding day. When everyone shows up prepared, communicates well, and gives it 100% effort, it creates the best possible experience for the couple and their guests. I’ve become very intentional about building relationships with vendors who share that same level of care and professionalism.
