Hidden Gems: Meet Ross Turner of Neon Clean

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ross Turner.

Hi Ross, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Neon Clean honestly started pretty organically. I saw that a lot of service businesses, especially in cleaning and property maintenance, were either hard to get ahold of, inconsistent, or just didn’t feel very professional. I felt like there was room to build something that looked and operated differently.

I started local here on the Central Coast, doing what most small business owners do in the beginning — figuring things out one step at a time, talking to customers, learning what people actually wanted, and slowly building systems as we grew.

Over time, Neon Clean expanded into residential and commercial cleaning, window cleaning, pressure washing, and other exterior cleaning services throughout San Luis Obispo County. A huge part of our growth has honestly just been word of mouth, local relationships, and trying to create a better customer experience than what people are used to getting from a typical cleaning company.

I’ve always been interested in branding, marketing, and systems, so from early on I wanted Neon Clean to feel modern, local, responsive, and easy to work with. We still have a lot of goals ahead of us, but it’s been exciting seeing the company continue to grow throughout the Central Coast.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. I think social media can sometimes make business ownership look way more polished than it actually is.

One of the biggest challenges has honestly just been learning how to build systems while the company is actively growing. In the service industry, especially in cleaning and property maintenance, there are a lot of moving parts — scheduling, customer communication, staffing, quality control, equipment, and making sure customers consistently have a good experience.

Another challenge is that when you’re building a local service business on the Central Coast, your reputation matters a lot. One bad experience can really affect trust, so we’ve had to learn quickly, improve quickly, and stay very focused on communication and consistency.

There were also seasons early on where I was wearing way too many hats at once — sales, marketing, operations, customer service, and problem solving all in the same day. I think most small business owners can relate to that.

But honestly, a lot of the struggles helped shape the company into what it is now. We’ve become much more organized, process-driven, and intentional about the customer experience because of those challenges.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Neon Clean is a professional cleaning company based on the Central Coast of California. We work with both residential and commercial clients throughout San Luis Obispo County, offering services like house cleaning, janitorial cleaning, window cleaning, and pressure washing.

I think one thing that sets us apart is that we’ve tried to build Neon Clean more like a modern brand than a traditional cleaning company. We put a big emphasis on communication, professionalism, responsiveness, and making the overall experience feel simple and reliable for the customer.

A lot of people have had frustrating experiences with service companies — not hearing back, late arrivals, inconsistent work, things like that. We’ve worked hard to create systems and processes that help eliminate a lot of those common frustrations.

For our commercial clients especially, consistency and communication matter a lot. Businesses want to know the job is getting done correctly without having to constantly follow up or manage the cleaning company themselves.

Brand-wise, I’m probably most proud of the fact that Neon Clean feels local and personal while still continuing to grow. We care a lot about our reputation in the community and about creating long-term relationships with both homeowners and businesses here on the Central Coast.

I’d want readers to know that we genuinely care about quality and customer experience. Whether it’s recurring house cleaning, janitorial services, window cleaning, or pressure washing, we want people to feel like they’re working with a company they can trust and easily communicate with.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The biggest way people can support us is honestly just by continuing to support local businesses here on the Central Coast. A lot of small businesses grow primarily through referrals and word of mouth, and that has definitely been true for Neon Clean.

People can work with us directly through our website or by reaching out for residential cleaning, commercial janitorial services, window cleaning, or pressure washing throughout San Luis Obispo County and surrounding areas.

We also enjoy building relationships with other local businesses, property managers, real estate professionals, and organizations throughout the community. A lot of our growth has come through local connections and collaborations.

More than anything, we want Neon Clean to continue becoming a trusted local brand that people think of when they need reliable, professional cleaning services on the Central Coast.
