Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Owens.
Hi Tara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story has always been rooted in beauty, creativity, and independence. I began modeling in London as a teenager and spent many years working in fashion, which gave me an early understanding of image, storytelling, and the emotional power of beauty. Over time, though, I became far more interested in what beauty could mean beyond appearance.
After moving to California and eventually settling in Ojai, that idea deepened. Eirys Beauty grew from a desire to create something that felt beautiful on the surface, but also carried meaning, intention, and a sense of personal sovereignty underneath it. I wanted to build a brand that invited women to reconnect with themselves rather than telling them who they should be.
Illumina, our first fragrance, became the beginning of that vision. It is a luxury extrait de parfum, but it also opens the door into the larger world of Eirys, ritual, education, community, and the Golden Portal. Every detail, from the fragrance to the packaging to the experience behind it, was created intentionally.
Building Eirys has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things I have ever done. I have learned about fragrance production, packaging, trademarks, fulfillment, e-commerce, finance, and all the practical realities that sit behind something that looks effortless from the outside. At the same time, I have stayed very protective of the heart of the brand: integrity, inclusivity, beauty, sovereignty, and creating something that genuinely means something.
Today, Eirys is still at the beginning of its journey, which is probably the most exciting part. Illumina has launched, our community is growing, and there is much more to come.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were definitely some bumps in the road. Building Eirys from the ground up has meant learning almost every part of the business firsthand, fragrance development, manufacturing, packaging, fulfillment, trademarks, e-commerce, shipping, retail, marketing, and the financial realities of launching an independent brand. There have been delays, unexpected costs, supplier issues, technical frustrations, and plenty of moments where something that looked simple from the outside became far more complicated behind the scenes.
One of the biggest challenges has been learning when to trust the process and when to step in and protect the vision. I have had to make difficult decisions, change direction when something was not right, and become very clear about the standards I will and will not compromise on.
At the same time, those challenges have made Eirys stronger. They taught me patience, discernment, resilience, and the importance of building slowly with integrity rather than rushing simply to get something into the world. Every obstacle forced me to understand the business more deeply, and I am grateful for that now.
The most important thing I have learned is that you can remain deeply connected to the creative vision while also becoming very practical about what it takes to protect and sustain it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Eirys Beauty is an independent luxury fragrance and beauty house built around the idea that beauty can be both deeply personal and deeply meaningful. We create fragrance, ritual, education, and community experiences designed to encourage self-connection, confidence, sovereignty, and intentional living.
Our debut fragrance, Illumina, is a 30 ml extrait de parfum created as a luminous, modern floral with white lotus accord, Bulgarian rose absolute, jasmine absolute, amber, elemi, raspberry, sandalwood, cedar, and white florals. It is sensual and ethereal, but it also represents the larger philosophy behind Eirys: beauty with depth, integrity, and purpose.
What sets Eirys apart is that the fragrance is only one part of the experience. Each bottle connects its owner to the Golden Portal, a private digital space created around education, reflection, financial literacy, ritual, and community. Our initial goal is to welcome 10,000 members into that world, with the vision growing far beyond that over time.
I am especially proud that Eirys has been built independently and very intentionally. Every element, from the scent and packaging to the language, portal, and customer experience, has been developed with care. Inclusivity, privacy, integrity, and personal sovereignty are central to the brand.
Eirys is still at the beginning, but the vision is much larger than a single fragrance. Illumina is the first chapter.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there is one thing I would want readers to understand about Eirys, it is that the brand was never created simply to sell fragrance. It was created to encourage women to trust themselves, value themselves, and feel more connected to their own voice, choices, and potential.
Beauty can be joyful, sensual, luxurious, and still have substance. For me, those things do not have to be separate. Eirys brings together fragrance, creativity, education, community, and personal sovereignty in a way that feels both beautiful and useful.
I also believe deeply in building with integrity. Growth matters, but not at the expense of the values that made the idea meaningful in the first place. If Eirys can grow while helping people feel more confident, informed, connected, and fully themselves, then I will feel we are doing something worthwhile.
