Inspiring Conversations with Laura Murata of Kamaji

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Murata.

Hi Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Kamaji began as an evolutionary unfolding. I’m a registered nurse working in the IV wellness space, and have a background in business entrepreneurship since my husband owns a local restaurant. And my sister-in-law and business partner, Suzanne, joined me as a receptionist. Suzanne has always been a creative and artistic person, while I bring the clinical background, and we quickly realized how naturally our strengths complemented each other.

What started as conversations about creating a wellness clinic became a much bigger vision. We wanted to build a space that celebrates the individual skills and talents of our practitioners while making wellness feel accessible, approachable, and anything but intimidating or overly clinical.

We envision Kamaji as a therapeutic space, not a clinical-feeling one — somewhere people can walk in and immediately feel comfortable, whether they’re an athlete, a busy parent, focused on longevity, or simply looking to feel better.

At its heart, Kamaji is about people — bringing together talented practitioners, celebrating what each person brings to the table, and creating a space where our clients feel seen, comfortable, and empowered to take an active role in their health and wellness

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not entirely a smooth road! Building a medical wellness business from the ground up comes with a pretty steep learning curve. We’re navigating everything from the legal and medical side of opening a practice, to leases, construction, pharmacies, technology, marketing, and all the tiny details you don’t even realize exist until you’re fully in it.

One of our biggest challenges is also one of the things we love most: we’re creating something that doesn’t quite fit into a traditional box. We’re balancing the clinical side of healthcare with creativity, hospitality, and a more therapeutic environment.

We’re learning, adapting, and figuring it out as we go but watching everything at Kamaji take shape makes the challenge worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Kamaji is a modern wellness and longevity clinic offering IV therapy, injectable vitamins and amino acids, peptide therapies, GLP-1 weight management, recovery and performance treatments.

What sets us apart is the experience we’re creating around those services. We’re intentionally moving away from the clinical feel that people often associate with healthcare and creating something that feels therapeutic, warm, approachable, fun and a little bit unexpected.

We’re proud of the people behind Kamaji. Every person here is amazing and brings their own personality and strengths to the business. We want to create an environment where those individual talents are part of what makes the experience special.

Ultimately, we want Kamaji to feel like a place you want to be, whether you’re an athlete focused on recovery and performance, a busy parent trying to take better care of yourself, someone interested in longevity, or simply someone who wants to feel better. We’re here to support you in wherever you are at.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is people, my family, our team, and the people who walk through our doors. We want to build something that feels meaningful, not just successful.

We care deeply about creating an environment where people feel comfortable, cared for, and genuinely seen. We also really value creativity, independence, and giving talented people the space to do what they do best.

Ultimately, we want Kamaji to be a place that makes people feel better when they leave than they did when they walked in, whether that’s physically, mentally, or simply because they felt welcomed and cared for.
