Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana H. Briscoe.
Hi Diana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Colombia, where I grew up surrounded by farmers, ranchers, and a family that expressed love through food. From an early age, I learned that cooking is more than preparing a meal—it’s a way to nourish, connect, and care for others. The values of fresh ingredients, respect for nature, and sharing meals around the table shaped who I am as both a chef and a person.
Cooking has been my life’s work. I grew up in the kitchen alongside my family, and for more than 20 years I have worked in some of Los Angeles’ most respected kitchens. My culinary journey began with Wolfgang Puck, followed by Soho House, and later serving as Executive Chef at renowned restaurants such as Gracias Madre. These experiences refined my culinary skills while deepening my passion for creating meaningful dining experiences.
Fifteen years ago, my life changed when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disease. At first, the diagnosis felt overwhelming, but over time I came to see it as one of the greatest gifts of my life. It challenged me to slow down, listen to my body, reconnect with nature, and discover that true healing begins from within. Instead of searching for answers outside myself, I learned to trust my own body, embrace a holistic way of living, and transform my relationship with food.
Today, as a holistic chef, my purpose extends far beyond cooking. I believe food is one of the most powerful tools we have to support our well-being, restore balance, and reconnect with ourselves. Through every meal I create, I hope to inspire others to nourish not only their bodies but also their hearts, empowering them to discover their own path to healing and live healthier, more joyful lives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. My journey has been anything but easy.
As a single mother, an immigrant from Colombia, and a woman working in a demanding industry while speaking broken English, I faced many challenges. There were moments when I questioned whether I belonged, and I often had to work twice as hard to prove myself. Building a career in some of Los Angeles’ top kitchens required resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to my passion.
Looking back, however, I realize that my greatest obstacles were not always external—they were internal. My own fears, limiting beliefs, and low emotional state often held me back more than anything else. Through my healing journey, I learned that the way we think, the energy we carry, and the beliefs we hold about ourselves shape the reality we experience.
Today, I take full responsibility for my life. I understand that I have the power to create my own reality through my choices, mindset, and actions. Every challenge became an opportunity to grow, every setback taught me something valuable, and every experience brought me closer to becoming the woman I am today.
Those lessons have made me not only a better chef, but also a better mother, leader, and human being. They are the foundation of how I serve others now—helping people reconnect with themselves, nourish their bodies, and discover that true healing begins from within.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is an expression of love through my hands. As a holistic private chef, I create beautiful, nourishing meals that support both the body and the soul. My philosophy is simple: “Sharing Love with Nature.” Every recipe I create is inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients, mindful cooking, and the belief that food is one of the greatest forms of self-care.
I specialize in personalized private chef services and weekly meal preparation for individuals and families who want to eat well without sacrificing quality or time. My goal is to bring comfort, balance, and joy back into the kitchen by preparing meals that are both delicious and deeply nourishing.
What I’m most proud of is the opportunity to serve my community. Many of my clients are busy mothers and families who are juggling demanding schedules. By taking care of their weekly meals and organizing their kitchens, I give them the gift of time—time to gather around the table, share meaningful moments, and enjoy healthy food together.
What sets me apart is that I don’t cook only from professional experience—I cook from lived experience. After overcoming my own health challenges, I understand firsthand the profound connection between food, lifestyle, and well-being. My healing journey transformed the way I cook and the way I care for others. Every meal I prepare is created with intention, compassion, and the hope of helping others feel stronger, healthier, and more connected to themselves.
For me, being a chef is not just about feeding people—it’s about nurturing lives
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The qualities I believe are most important to my success are authenticity, discipline, persistence, and consistency. I believe in being truly myself, being honest and kind in everything I do, and having the courage to share my own experiences.
Everyone in this world is unique, and I believe our individual experiences are what make us who we are. My journey has taught me to stay disciplined, keep going even when things are difficult, and remain consistent with what I believe in. For me, success is not only about achieving goals—it is about staying true to myself, treating others with kindness, and continuing to grow and share what I have learned along the way.
