Life & Work with Mary Jeanty of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Jeanty.

Hi Mary, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I actually started my UGC journey in December 2025, just selling products through my TikTok Shop. It began as a simple side hustle, but pretty quickly I realized it was giving me something I didn’t expect…a creative outlet. As I kept creating, I started noticing there wasn’t a lot of representation for Gen X in this space, and that became the thing that really pulled me in. I wanted to show that our generation has a voice and a perspective worth hearing in the content world too. Real life, real relatability, not just polished production. That shift in purpose is really what turned it from a side hustle into something I’m proud to call my work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the hardest part hasn’t been the content creation itself, it’s everything happening behind the scenes. I’m a full-time special education teacher, so I’m grading papers and lesson planning during the day, then switching gears to film, edit, and pitch brands at night. Add motherhood into that mix, and finding time to actually sit down and search for the right brand partnerships (the ones that align with who I am, not just anyone offering a check) became its own job. Deadlines don’t wait for you to have a free evening, so I had to learn how to be incredibly intentional with my time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’d say I specialize in creating authentic, real-life content especially in the skincare, beauty, and wellness space where I bring a teacher-mom-Gen X lens to everything I make. I’m known for a casual, friend-to-friend tone rather than anything polished or corporate; my hooks and captions are built to feel like a genuine recommendation from a friend, not an ad. What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with brands — Wonderskin, CoverGirl, Javvy Coffee, and Kiehl’s just to name a few, have all come back to work with me again, and that kind of repeat partnership means everything in this industry. But honestly, what I’m most proud of is representing Gen X in a space that’s so dominated by younger creators. I’ve had people tell me they finally feel seen in this content world because of what I put out, and that means more to me than any brand deal.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is authenticity and connection. Showing up as who I really am, not a filtered version of myself. As a teacher working with students who have significant needs, I’ve learned how much it matters to meet people exactly where they are, with patience and without judgment. As a mom, that same value carries over. I want my daughter to see me being real, even when things don’t go perfectly, whether that’s a room renovation gone sideways or a rough day at school. And in my content, that’s the thread that ties it all together: I’d rather share something true and a little messy than something polished and hollow. At the end of the day, I think representation and honesty matter more than perfection. Whether that’s representing Gen X, representing teachers, or just representing what it actually looks like to juggle a full life.
