Life & Work with Nandy Vides of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nandy Vides.

Hi Nandy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2014, I left my home country and moved to New York City to study Fashion Design at Parsons The New School. I loved creativity and design, but while I was there, I found something that completely changed the direction of my life: yoga.

What started as a way to feel better quickly became a lifelong passion. After I completed my first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, I realized I didn’t just want to understand movement, I wanted to understand the whole connection between the body, the mind, and our emotional well-being. So I followed that curiosity around the world. I lived in Australia while studying Group Fitness. I traveled to India to deepen my understanding of yoga, meditation, and ancient healing traditions. I eventually settled in Miami to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science at the University of Miami.

Over the next several years, I immersed myself completely in the study of human movement and holistic health. I completed a 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training with a specialization in Yoga Therapy, pursued clinical studies in therapeutic yoga, and explored everything from Ashtanga and Kundalini yoga to breathwork, meditation, functional movement, strength training, and even CrossFit.

Every experience added another piece to the puzzle. Science taught me how the body functions. Yoga taught me how to listen. Breathwork taught me how to regulate. And life itself taught me how to heal.

But even with all that education and all those certifications, I kept asking myself one question: why do so many women know exactly what they should do for their health, yet still struggle to feel well? Eventually I found my answer, and it wasn’t another workout, another diet, or another certification. It was the heart. My own healing journey showed me that emotional pain, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, and self-abandonment often sit beneath the physical symptoms so many women experience. Healing became less about fixing my body and more about rebuilding my relationship with myself.

When I moved to Los Angeles with my husband in 2023, one of the first things I did was jump in and help him get his streetwear brand, Pandemic Streetwear (@pandemicstreetwear), off the ground. I threw myself into that work fully. But even in the middle of building someone else’s dream, I kept hearing a quieter voice underneath it all, one that kept whispering about the women I could be serving, about the work that would eventually become Heart Liberation. I couldn’t ignore it forever.

So in 2024, I finally gave myself permission to stop waiting until I felt “ready.” I began guiding women through private sessions and intimate Heart Liberation circles, and watching them reconnect with themselves confirmed what I’d felt all along: this was the work I was meant to do. In 2025, I expanded that mission online through YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@queenof.selfcare), so I could reach women beyond my local community.

Today, I devote my work to helping women release emotional burdens, regulate their nervous systems, support hormonal health, including conditions like PCOS/PMOS and build self-care practices that actually nourish who they are.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This path wasn’t a straight line, and it definitely wasn’t easy. Being an international student in New York City was a real adjustment, a new culture, a different pace of life, and honestly, the winters were hard on me. I dealt with seasonal depression every year I was there, and that ended up being one of the main reasons I eventually left the city. In a strange way, it was also what pushed me toward yoga in the first place, I was looking for anything that could help me feel grounded again.

Fashion had always been part of my story, my family has run second-hand clothing businesses across Central America for generations, so studying it felt natural. But the industry itself was intensely competitive, and I struggled with a lot of self-doubt and impostor syndrome while I was in it.

Around that same time, I went through my own personal struggles with mental health, and it became clear to me that I needed to prioritize my own healing before I could build anything else. That’s really what drew me so deeply into yoga and wellness, it wasn’t just a professional interest, it was personal survival.

Even with that foundation, life still tested me. When I moved to Miami to finish my bachelor’s degree, I went through a stretch of feeling more isolated and unarmored than I expected, especially once I was there without family nearby. It was a genuinely hard chapter, and it took real intention to work through it.

I met my husband in 2021, and we ended up supporting each other through a lot of personal growth together, including making some significant lifestyle changes side by side. Around the time I finished my degree, we decided to move to Los Angeles to build a streetwear brand around hand-drawn artwork he’d created during lockdown.

Given my background in fashion and business, I jumped in to help him build it. I assumed it would come together quickly, but Los Angeles humbled us, finding the right support, funding, and collaborators was much harder than we anticipated as newcomers to the city. He’s still pursuing that vision today. But in the middle of helping him build his dream, I found the space to return to my own.

Today, we’ve built three years of sobriety and real stability together, along with a lot of momentum on our individual spiritual paths. Everything I went through, the isolation, the self-doubt, the work of rebuilding myself, is part of why my somatic yoga class Heart Liberation exists. I’m not just teaching women how to heal from the outside in. I’ve done that work myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Today, my work as a yoga teacher goes far beyond physical practice. I specialize in somatic movement, using the body itself as the entry point to release what’s stored beneath the surface. I weave in breathwork to help regulate the nervous system in real time, and meditation to create the stillness women need to actually hear themselves again.

But the piece that really shapes my sessions is intuitive channeling. Before I ever guide a class, I’m reading the energy of the room and tuning into each woman’s spiritual channels to sense what she actually needs in that moment, not what a generic sequence says she should do. That intuitive assessment is what allows me to shape a session that meets people exactly where they are, whether that’s releasing grief held in the hips, calming an overactive nervous system, or simply helping someone feel safe enough in their body to breathe fully again.

For a long time, this kind of deep, intuitive work only existed in private one-on-one sessions, which meant it was only accessible to a small number of women. That’s exactly why I created Heart Liberation, a container where women could experience this same level of somatic, intuitive, breath-based healing, but in a group setting, at a much more accessible price point. It became my way of taking something deeply personal and making it reachable for more women at once, without losing the depth or the individual attention that makes it actually work.

And it’s worth mentioning, my background in fashion design still shows up in how I bring this work into the world. Studying design at Parsons taught me how to think visually and build a full brand experience, not just deliver content. That’s the same eye I used to build the entire Queen of Self Care website myself, from the visual identity to how a woman moves through the site from her first visit to enrolling in Heart Liberation. Fashion and web design became the tools I used to make this healing work feel as considered and beautiful as the transformation itself.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
At the moment I’m still building my social media audience because I used to work purely through personal and professional recommendations, but expanding my network is imperative for the next level of the work I’m trying to put in the world today. You can find me here:
