Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Von Raesfeld.
Hi Nina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been someone who leads with feeling and logic. I am drawn to beauty, to depth, to the question of what it means to truly be alive in your body and in the work. That curiosity has shaped everything.
I grew up with a natural pull toward art and healing, though it took time to understand that those two things could live together in one life. Over the past year I have been building Nina Sophia Designs; a boutique web design and photography studio rooted in the belief that how you show up digitally should feel as alive and intentional as the work itself. I get to help small businesses and healers translate who they really are into something people can feel through a screen.
But the thread running underneath all of it is embodiment. I November I begin the process of becoming a somatic practitioner because I believe that we have been taught to live from the mind first and that something essential gets lost when we do. My work, in every form it takes, is really an invitation back into the body, back into the inner knowing that most of us learned to override. Whether I am designing a website, photographing a retreat, or sitting with someone I want people to feel more like themselves when they leave than when they arrived.
I am a lifelong learner, a healer, and an artist. And I am just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road and I am grateful for that.
I have navigated chronic health challenges since I was young. For a long time they felt like obstacles, but over the years I have come to see them as my greatest teachers. They are in large part why I am the woman I am today and the reason I understand the body the way I do, the reason embodiment is not just a concept for me but a way of being. That experience quietly shapes everything I do.
The road into my work has also had its practical challenges. I graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2023 into a job market that felt like it was constantly shifting beneath my feet, and building a client base while staying true to how I want to show up without losing myself to the noise of social media has been its own kind of navigation.
But all of it has brought me here and here feels right.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Nina Sophia Designs is a boutique creative studio offering web design, photography, and copywriting for small businesses. Every project is fully custom and deeply collaborative. What I create is made entirely by hand, with intention, and in genuine relationship with the person or people across from me.
What I specialize in is translation. Taking the energy, the essence, the soul of someone and their work and finding a way to make that felt through a screen. That requires a kind of deep, authentic listening that goes beyond gathering information. It is more like witnessing. What I have discovered is that the process itself often becomes something unexpected, clients have described working together as therapeutic, even transformational. Moments of clarity about who they are and what they are building tend to emerge naturally when someone is truly seen. Those moments of awakening and alignment are my favorite part of the work.
What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about people, the business, the feeling someone gets when they land on a page we built together. That quality of presence, that way of seeing people and helping them see themselves, AI could never replicate it. No algorithm can hold space the way a human can and people feel that difference.
I am most proud not of any single project but of the relationships and the process itself. The fact that I get to do work that moves people, in every sense of the word.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is playing pretend with my sister and our friends at a little beach cabin my family had on Tomales Bay. There was something so alive and free about those days; the water, the imagination, the complete unselfconsciousness of just creating worlds out of thin air with the people you love most. Looking back, I think that is where my love of storytelling and making beautiful things began. That same spirit of play and presence lives in my work today.
