Meet Kaiden Arellanes of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaiden Arellanes.

Hi Kaiden, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I like to look at my life through the lens of a novel reader. A person experiences living life as a book; each event or milestone adding a new chapter to our story.

I started off my story in Tucson, Arizona. My experience there definitely changed the trajectory of my life. Moving out of my parents house at 14 or trying to support myself in University while battling a dream to go to cosmetology school. Where I resided wasn’t exactly one of the nicest parts of town either.

One day I randomly decided to move to Seattle, Washington. I ended up staying there for about four years. The change of scenery, climate, and interactions with the day to day living. Two months after moving up there my car engine exploded. That was not fun in the slightest. I ended up working inside of a warehouse to save funds to buy a car. Which I was able to buy my dream car. A Volkswagen Beetle. I’ve always wanted one since I was a kid. I moved in with my boyfriend (whom I later marry three years later) and he tells me I have a talent for content, fashion, and photography.

He is my biggest supporter. I’ve dabbled with the content creating here and there. While I was residing in Seattle, I worked as a visual merchandiser for a company. I ended up meeting amazing people who I developed long term friendships with. However, all good things come to an end. I left my job to go to Europe for a little bit. During this time I had a video about playing Pokémon go mega viral. Gathering about 1 million views on TikTok. I decided to pursue content creating as a hobby, but I got discouraged.

Now I later move to the San Francisco Bay Area about four months after I get back from Europe. Challenging me to continue my growth as a person. I continued my passion for making content on social media. I was trying to find a way to tie together all of my passions. Pokémon, Fashion, EDM and traveling. I started to consistently post. Which lead to Pokémon featuring my photo on their website and email catalogs.

All of this ties back to « Live the life your five year old self dreams of, and live a life your eighty year old self would want to reflect on. »

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say life is not always a smooth road. There will always be bumps and challenges in the road. One of the biggest challenges is that I don’t have the family experience that most people do. I lost my dad at 14, and was also removed from my mother’s custody at that time. However, I made sure to never let that define who I am.

Moving to different states is challenging but thrilling at the same time. It’s a way to start your life over. When I moved to Seattle, all I had was what could fit in my Kia Soul along with a dream. That dream quickly shattered after moving there for two months. My car engine died, I was let go from a job and ended up working in a warehouse. Walking in the rain every morning during the Winter in Washington is not something I would recommend many people do.

One of the biggest struggles I am facing is losing my older brother. Learning how to navigate life without being able to reach out to him is hard. It’s an odd way to live. He was the reason why I got into Pokémon at such a young age.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For work I am currently still working in Fashion as a visual merchandiser. On the side I create content on social media with a Pokémon Twist.

I’m becoming known for is my PokéFashion Friday series, and bringing Pokémon Cards to EDM shows along with cosplays. This ties into what I am extremely proud of myself. I was able to get featured on Pokémon’s website because of my PokéFashion series.

How do you define success?
I define success based on how happy you are in your life. Success can have a different definition ranging person to person. I think success equals happiness. It is up to the individual to define their own happiness.
