Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Dodge.
Hi Kathy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had been bartending for years at a niche flea market on Treasure Island and had bought a pair of lightning bolt earrings from a vendor. I was curious if I could make something similar with resin. From there I was inspired to keep creating and have over 50 earring designs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Im still only doing this part time and attending vendor events locally on the weekends. Most of my struggles are due to my own impatience and lack of care to attention. I had also started the resin journey with out safety in mind. I now have a purifier and wear a ppe mask, gloves and work clothes.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make wearable/usuable resin items. I am always inspired by color and love to mix and create my own color pairings. I’m also now starting to make niche bespoke eco resin home goods. Vases and planters and pocket shelves (coming soon). Im most proud of my dedication and constant work ethic. I get up every morning thinking about color. Even though I use silicone molds that are available to everyone, I feel that my playful personality shows through in my art creations in the form of color, glitter and the choices of what to create and how they work together.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
This is probably a cliche but I do listen to murder podcasts mostly. My Favorite Murder is my number one. Followed by Crime Junkie, Gerneration Why, Park Predators, and The Deck. I do however sprinkle in some Amy Poehler Good Hang and Julia Louise Dreyfus WIser Than Me. When I have an idea and am not sure how to execute I will do a You Tube Tutorial search. No specific site, and honestly I speed through all the blah blah to get to the meat of the explanation.

- Im not sure what this question means but I never want my prices to be a reason for someone not to take home something that Ive created. I have and will give things away at vendor events to people who have expressed some kindness towards me.
