Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana.
Hi lana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
i’ve always been drawn to creative work. while attending the University of California, Irvine, i explored my interests in graphic design and photography, which grew into opportunities to create visual content and tell stories through different mediums. at the same time, my passion for cooking led me into private chef work, where i found another creative outlet through food and hospitality.
today, i balance all three—design, photography, and private chefing—and enjoy creating meaningful experiences, whether that’s through a camera, a design project, or a great meal.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
not at all. like most creative careers, my path hasn’t been completely linear. balancing graphic design, photography, and private chef work has come with its challenges, especially when it comes to building a client base, managing multiple projects, and navigating periods of uncertainty. there were times when opportunities were slow, and i had to wear a lot of different hats to keep moving forward.
at the same time, those challenges taught me resilience and the importance of continuously learning and improving my craft. each experience helped me grow both personally and professionally, and ultimately led me to where i am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
i wear a few different hats—graphic designer, photographer, and private chef. i love creating experiences that feel personal and memorable, whether through design, photography, or food.
i’m proud to have built a career around my creative passions, and this fall i’ll be starting the master of science in global supply chain management program at usc. i think what sets me apart is my mix of creativity, attention to detail, and ability to connect with people across different industries.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
empathy for sure. i’ve found that the most important part of my work, whether it’s graphic design, photography, or being a private chef—is understanding people:
what they’re trying to express, what they care about, and what kind of experience they want to have.
that mindset has helped me create work that feels more personal and intentional, instead of just technical or surface-level. it also shapes how i collaborate and communicate, and it’s something i try to bring into everything i do.
