Meet Pippa Baker-Rabe of Plant Shop 805

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pippa Baker-Rabe.

Hi Pippa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our connection to plants goes back to the beginning! As siblings growing up in Ojai, California we were raised in the garden. Thomas began propagating California Fan Palms and selling them at our lemonade stand when we were in elementary school! We were lucky enough to be exposed to nature, agriculture, and even our grandfather’s incredible tropical garden in Carpinteria. Working together came naturally in 2021 and fusing all of our strengths and passions created Plant Shop 805.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our business has seen some evolutions! At the beginning we were creatively honing in on what we do best- play with plants. We had an Etsy and through the pandemic explored all the ways we could grow and change as we found the essence of our brand. We are people- people and opening a brick and mortar was an obvious next step. We then wanted to go back to our roots online and thus created Arch Rock Aloes- our rare plant brand that focuses on our unique hybrids. One struggle for us was saying goodbye to our family ranch in Ojai. This was our home base for growing plants and selling that property forced us to find a new place to grow plants. We are thrilled to have found an urban space on the Westside of Ventura that we have been building out in 2026. We are committed to carving our own niche in the rare plant industry here in Ventura County and serving our neighbors with welcoming family energy as well as expert plant knowledge.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Plant Shop 805?
