Russell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up with life-threatening food allergies to seven of the top nine allergens. Despite carefully avoiding these foods, I was sent to the emergency room twice before I turned seven due to accidental milk exposure. These traumatic experiences inspired me to create this initiative so that other children with similar disabilities have safer access to food.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth road at all and we are still going .Being a high school junior and starting this initiative, I had a lot of trouble trying to secure partnerships, whether it be with find a place to have my pantry or receiving donations from Top nine allergen-friendly companies or even grocery markets near me.
