Today we’d like to introduce you to Taya Hawkins.
Hi Taya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing nails when i was in college & working a minimum wage job. i became really popular in my city and was doing nails until
i was noticed. i moved to las vegas about 2 years ago, it’s definitely been different but it’s a journey
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
overall my experience as a nail tech is smooth until i moved states. when i first started when i was practicing i got into a car accident and messed up my dominant hand but i still practiced and pushed through. moving to vegas was a struggle because i had to get licensed here and finding jobs here is hard, so i struggled through. and everything was pretty much fine up until my grandmother died and it’s been a hard struggle since then but i continuously push through
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
i specialize is acrylic nails! i’m very clean cut with my work. most people will see my work and say “oh taya did your nails”! i’m most proud of all the new nail art i’ve been doing because i’ve always been a nail charms and bling girl. i think what sets me apart from others is my shaping. it’s considered “different” in las vegas & im also a very personable nail tech.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
i think luck is a hit or miss. i don’t count my luck because it isn’t always consistent but i guess that’s what luck is. i don’t see anything as luck i see it as God made this happen for a reason.
