Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Hudson.
Hi Andre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2013, we lost our middle daughter, Olivia, to brain cancer. Her passing brought profound grief and deep depression, but the Lord met us in our pain and supernaturally helped us find healing, hope, and a way forward. That experience shaped the heart of our ministry. Having experienced His restoring power ourselves, we are passionate about helping others get unstuck from the pain, struggles, and circumstances that keep them from moving forward.
In 2019, we sought the Lord for a family mission statement to clarify His calling on our lives. That’s when He gave us the acronym W.I.N.D., which stands for Worship, Innovation, Nations, and Deliverance.
God created each of us for a unique purpose, and this ministry is ours. In 2020, He called us to sell our home. By faith, we obeyed, not knowing where we would live or what we would do next.
Just a week before we needed to find a home, the Lord revealed His plan: our family would minister to others, grow food, and provide housing for missionaries and those in need.
At the time, the pandemic had just begun, and we had many questions: Why would we need a place for people to gather? Why would we need to grow food?
Shortly after, God gave us a dream showing the exact neighborhood where we would live—even though no homes were available there.
Today, we live in that very location, in a home perfectly suited for large gatherings, with irrigated gardens, a functioning greenhouse, and a structure we are working to transform into a Refuge house. Our vision is to create a place where missionaries and people in need can find rest, support, and space to heal as they prepare for their next steps. God’s faithfulness has guided us every step of the way.
Through Windmill Ministry, everything we do shares one purpose: helping people get unstuck and move forward into the life God has called them to live. Whether through worship and music, teaching and training, providing food, building partnerships, or developing the Refuge house, we are honored to serve people and extend the hope and restoration the Lord has so faithfully given our family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has certainly had its challenges. While God has blessed us with a large property, stewarding it well requires ongoing work, resources, and care. Landscaping and construction are needs we continually navigate. Although the structure for the Refuge house is in place and plumbing and electrical connections have been made, we still need to raise the funds to complete the build.
Over the past five years, our home has served as the heart of our ministry. Throughout that time, we have continued growing food, teaching, training, and serving others while developing the property. Ministry has continued at every stage of the building process as we faithfully work toward the vision God has given us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve spent most of my career serving as a worship pastor at several churches, writing music, singing, and playing electric and acoustic guitar. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of building an on-site studio where I can create music and help others develop their gifts.
One of the most rewarding parts of this work is helping people get unstuck, discover who they are, and find their unique voice. Through the music ministry of our nonprofit, we’ve helped many artists get their start, providing space, encouragement, and support to overcome creative barriers and move forward with confidence in their gifts and calling.
I also wrote a book “Fresh Wind For Worship Leaders” to help other worship leaders lead their teams well.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’ve discovered several resources that inspire my creativity and support our mission. Two of my favorite apps are Picsart and Superimpose, which help me explore ideas and map out design concepts. Lately, I’ve also enjoyed using Freeform to organize notes and ideas. For music, I use [untitled] to share song concepts and collaborate with other singers and musicians.
One podcast I’ve been enjoying is Green Room by Iris Global, which shares stories of God moving supernaturally around the world. These testimonies strengthen my faith, encourage me to keep moving forward, and deepen my expectancy for what God will do.
I also follow The Band Guide on YouTube for practical studio tips and music production tutorials. It’s a helpful resource for developing my skills and bringing musical ideas to life.
