Rising Stars: Meet Candice Renner of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Renner.

Hi Candice, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a passion for hospitality and spent much of my career working in the wine industry, fine dining, and sales. During COVID, I was furloughed from my job and shortly after became pregnant with my second son. While figuring out what returning to the workforce would look like, I began assisting a close friend who owned a wedding planning business. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the industry.

I was drawn to the energy of a wedding day, the creativity involved in designing meaningful events, and the relationships built throughout the planning process. After gaining experience behind the scenes, I launched my own business and never looked back.

Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to help couples bring their vision to life. I love the details, the problem-solving, and most of all, getting to know my clients and creating celebrations that feel uniquely personal to them.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many entrepreneurs, one of my biggest challenges has been learning to set boundaries and protect my time. In the early years, I said yes to everything and often found myself skipping lunch or working around the clock to make sure every detail was perfect.

Balancing a growing business while raising a family has also come with its share of challenges. As a solopreneur, there’s no one else to hand things off to, so learning how to prioritize, delegate, and create systems has been an ongoing process.

While the road certainly hasn’t always been smooth, each challenge has helped me become a better business owner, planner, and leader. I’m constantly learning, reflecting, and refining how I approach both work and life so I can show up fully for my clients and my family.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and lead planner behind Heyday Weddings & Events, a boutique wedding planning and event design company based on California’s Central Coast. I specialize in creating thoughtful, design-forward celebrations that feel deeply personal to each couple while remaining highly organized and seamlessly executed behind the scenes.

My background in hospitality, fine dining, wine, and sales has shaped the way I approach events. I believe exceptional guest experiences are built through intentional design, strong logistics, and genuine hospitality. While I love the creative side of planning, I am equally passionate about the operational side…building timelines, managing vendors, solving problems, and ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered.

In addition to weddings, I recently launched The Editorial Series, a creative platform where I conceptualize and produce large-scale editorial shoots that push the boundaries of wedding design. These projects allow me to collaborate with talented artists and vendors while exploring new ideas, trends, and storytelling through design. The Editorial Series has become one of my favorite creative outlets and continues to inspire my client work.

What I am most proud of is the trust my clients place in me during one of the most important seasons of their lives. I intentionally take on a limited number of weddings each year so I can provide a highly personalized experience and truly get to know the couples I serve.

I believe what sets me apart is my ability to balance creativity with execution. I can dream alongside my clients and help bring a vision to life, while also managing the countless moving pieces required to make an event successful. At the heart of it all, I love creating meaningful experiences that bring people together and leave lasting memories.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something many people may not know is that I’m equally passionate about logistics as I am design. While people often see the beautiful florals, tablescapes, and details, I get just as excited about timelines, production schedules, transportation plans, and contingency plans. For me, the magic happens when creativity and execution come together seamlessly.
