Today we’d like to introduce you to Juno (with The Band TKB) Bordens.
Hi Juno (with the band TKB), please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My brother Sean and I started TKB when we were around 4 and 9 years old. We’ve always loved music, and starting a band just seemed like the natural thing to do. What started as two brothers making music together eventually grew into something much bigger.
I met Sasha, our bass player, while we were both in a middle school musical—before he had ever even touched a bass and he became a huge part of our journey.
When we moved to California from Dallas, Texas, we met Abel at a high school choir concert that we went to support a friend. We connected through music, and from there, everything just clicked.
Since then, we’ve been locked in—creating, performing, traveling, and growing together. We’ve had the opportunity to play across the U.S. and internationally and experience things we never could have imagined when we were little kids first starting out.
It hasn’t always been easy, but through all the ups and downs, music has always been the thing that keeps us moving forward. At the end of the day, we’re still just a brothers who love making music together, and we’re excited to see where this journey takes us next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not. In fact, moving to California has brought some of our biggest challenges yet. The cost of living is incredibly high, and as a young band trying to build a career in the music industry, there are a lot of expenses that people don’t always see behind the scenes.
We’ve had to get creative and find ways to support ourselves while continuing to pursue music. We all work part-time jobs, and every Sunday we perform on the Santa Monica Pier to earn some extra money and help make things work. It’s definitely not easy trying to balance work, life, and a music career, but we’re willing to do whatever it takes.
If anything, the struggles have made us more determined. We’ve learned that building something meaningful doesn’t happen overnight, and sometimes you have to take a few unconventional paths along the way. We’re still here, still playing, still creating, and still pushing forward—and that’s what matters most to us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a pop band that loves to mix funk and rock elements into our music. If we were known for anything it would be a video that was going around on the internet of a crazy lady getting in our face while busking on Hollywood blvd. We pride ourselves in our live performances even if you don’t like the genre we play I promise you’ll enjoy the show. That’s our pride and joy that’s what makes us different.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our parents deserve a huge amount of the credit for where we are today. They believed in us from the beginning and have supported us in ways that go far beyond just music. They gave us a foundation, made sacrifices for us, and helped create opportunities that allowed us to pursue something we truly love. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done, and one of our biggest goals is to someday be able to give back to them and show them that all of their support was worth it.
We’ve also been extremely fortunate to have some amazing mentors and people in the music industry who have taken the time to guide us, encourage us, and show us what it really means to be a great performer. We’ve had the opportunity to learn from true showmen and legends like Zapp, whose were friends with -Bootsy Collins, and Leon Sylvers, along with so many other incredible people we’ve crossed paths such as L.A Reid, Adrian Miller, Reggie Calloway, Berry Gordy & B- Sims to name a few 😉
We’ve been lucky to have so many people believe in us, open doors for us, and share their knowledge with us. We don’t take any of that for granted, and we know that the people who have supported us along the way are a huge part of our story.
