Rising Stars: Meet Laryssa Suaid of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laryssa Suaid.

Hi Laryssa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started photography in Brazil in 2005 and quickly fell in love with documenting real moments and human connections. After earning a degree in Design, I continued building my photography career and eventually moved to the United States, where I rebuilt my business from the ground up.

Today, I own Roseman Suaid Photography in Southern California and have spent nearly two decades photographing weddings, engagements, and elopements. My focus has always been creating timeless, authentic images that tell a couple’s story naturally.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was rebuilding my business after moving from Brazil to the United States. I had years of experience, but I essentially had to start over in a new country where nobody knew my work.

Earlier in my career, I also made a lot of sacrifices to learn. I worked for free at one of the top photography studios in my city, taking the bus every day and bringing my own lunch just for the opportunity to learn from experienced photographers. Financially, it wasn’t easy, but it helped shape the photographer and business owner I am today.

Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve faced challenges with marketing, building a client base, and balancing creativity with running a business. Looking back, those obstacles taught me resilience and pushed me to keep improving. Today, I’m grateful for every challenge because each one helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions, with a documentary approach focused on genuine emotions and real moments rather than overly posed photos.

What I’m most passionate about is creating photographs that feel timeless. My grandfather and my father were both photographers, and I still look at the images they created decades ago. Those photographs never feel outdated to me. The colors are true, the moments are real, and they have a timeless quality that allows you to connect with them no matter how much time has passed. That has greatly influenced my own work.

I’m known for helping couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and for creating images that are natural, emotional, and true to life. My goal is not to follow editing trends that may look dated in a few years, but to create photographs that couples and future generations will still love decades from now.

What I’m most proud of is building a successful business from the ground up, first in Brazil and then again after moving to the United States. Nearly two decades into my photography journey, I still feel honored every time a couple trusts me to document one of the most important days of their lives.

I believe what sets me apart is the combination of experience, adaptability, and my commitment to authenticity. Every wedding is unique, and I approach each one with fresh eyes, focusing on the people, emotions, and moments that make their story truly their own.

How do you think about happiness?
Family and friends are what make me happiest. At the end of the day, the moments we share with the people we love are what matter most, and I truly value those relationships.

I also genuinely love photography. Even after nearly two decades, I still get excited about creating images and preserving memories. There’s something special about capturing a moment that can be remembered and relived for generations. Seeing people connect with those memories through my photographs is incredibly rewarding and one of the reasons I continue to love what I do.
