Rising Stars: Meet Vickie Cass of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vickie Cass.

Hi Vickie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was working in Finance and was very unhappy. After becoming a mother and volunteering in my child’s Kindergarten class I realized how much more rewarding that experience was. I went back to college to complete a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Development and began working as a Teaching Assistant in early childhood. i worked my way up to Kindergarten teacher and was so happy! I decided to complete my Masters in Early Childhood Development and moved into Administration. I am now the Director of my beloved school, Honey Tree Early Childhood Center. After working at both public and private schools I fell in love with Honey Tree due to their kind, loving, and patient approach. I am proud to be at the helm of such a gem of a school where children are loved and appreciated for who they are as individuals. Honey tree Early Childhood Center is my happy place!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was a struggle to work and earn both my Bachelors and Masters Degrees. I sacrificed a social life, downtime to relax and more but It was absolutely worth the journey. It is NEVER too late to go to school and change careers.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As Director of Honey Tree Early Childhood Center I oversee the entire school ensuring that students, faculty, and parents needs are met. I work to ensure everyone’s Honey Tree experience is positive and nurturing. I am so proud to be a part of a school that focuses on whole-child development with love and patience. Students are given love daily in a variety of ways from hugs, to hearing “I am so glad you’re here today”, to “I love you so much! We also have an open-door policy for parents whom we encourage to join their child in class any time they like. Incorporating families is an integral part of our philosophy. As a community we improve each child’s development!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
