Hidden Gems: Meet Heyner Diaz of Diaz Auto Detailing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heyner Diaz.

Hi Heyner, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Starting my detailing business in 2021 was never part of some perfect long-term plan. After losing my welding job due to COVID, I found myself looking for a new direction and decided to take a chance on myself. What started as a small mobile detailing setup in the back of my pickup truck quickly turned into something much bigger through hard work, consistency, and word of mouth.

As business began to grow, I invested in an enclosed trailer so I could carry better equipment and offer higher quality services. That investment completely changed the trajectory of my business. With more experience, improved tools, and a growing client base, my business skyrocketed and eventually allowed me to purchase and professionally build out my detailing van something I once only dreamed about.

Throughout the years, I’ve continued to educate myself by learning advanced paint correction and ceramic coating techniques while also gaining knowledge through trial and error and real world experience. One thing that has never changed is my approach to customers. I’ve always believed in putting people over profit and treating every vehicle as if it were my own. Integrity, honesty, and quality work are what built my business, and they’re the reasons I’ve been able to keep growing year after year.

Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come from detailing cars out of the back of a pickup truck, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges during the early years of my business was financial uncertainty. When I first committed to detailing full time, my first month only brought in around $1,000, which wasn’t nearly enough to comfortably live on. There were times when I questioned whether I had made the right decision leaving the stability of a regular job behind.

For the first two years, I sacrificed a lot and reinvested almost everything I made back into the business instead of paying myself. Every upgrade from better tools and chemicals to my trailer and eventually my van setup came from taking risks and staying committed to long-term growth instead of short term comfort.

Building a business from the ground up also meant learning through mistakes and experience. There were long days, slow seasons, and moments where balancing quality work, customer service, and finances felt overwhelming. But those challenges taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of consistency.
