Hidden Gems: Meet Venessa Aka Alma Henry of Alma wellness / Earth Angel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Venessa Aka Alma Henry.

Hi Venessa aka alma, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey has always been rooted in service, healing, and community. For much of my life, I have been drawn to creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, with one another, and with a greater sense of purpose. This calling eventually led me to co-found Alma Wellness, a vision centered around holistic wellbeing, stewardship, education, and community connection.

Along the way, I was fortunate to collaborate with remarkable teachers, healers, innovators, and cultural leaders, including Jero Balian Hai Dai from Bali. Through these collaborations, we began exploring a question that felt increasingly important in today’s world: How do we help people remain connected to their hearts in a time of rapid technological change, social division, and constant distraction?

That exploration eventually led to the development of CINAExp Heart Coherence project —an immersive experience that blends ancient wisdom, modern science, storytelling, education, and technology to help people cultivate greater coherence, resilience, and connection.

Today, my work focuses on building bridges between wellness, culture, science, technology, and community. My goal is to make practices that were once only accessible through traditional ceremonies or retreats available in ways that are practical, engaging, and relevant to modern life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has certainly not been smooth.

Like many vision-driven projects, Alma Wellness encountered unexpected challenges involving leadership, governance, finances, property stewardship, and differing perspectives about how a shared vision should move forward. These experiences were often difficult and deeply personal.

At times, I found myself navigating uncertainty, loss, and conflict while trying to remain committed to the values that inspired the project in the first place. Yet these challenges also became some of my greatest teachers.

They reinforced the importance of transparency, accountability, communication, and heart-centered leadership. They also revealed how much people are longing for tools that help them remain grounded and connected during times of stress and division.

Many of the lessons learned through these experiences directly influenced the creation of CINAExp Heart Coherence Meditation. What began as a response to personal and organizational challenges evolved into a broader mission to help individuals and communities cultivate greater coherence, compassion, and understanding.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Alma wellness / Earth Angel ?
Alma Wellness is more than a wellness organization—it is a living, community-rooted ecosystem devoted to restoring human coherence across mind, body, spirit, and environment. Co- Founded by Shakti Alma, our work is grounded in the understanding that true healing happens in relationship: with ourselves, with each other, and with the natural world.

At its core, Alma Wellness specializes in heart coherence practices, trauma-informed care, and holistic healing experiences designed to support elders, youth, veterans, and individuals navigating life transitions. Our offerings weave together breathwork, sound healing, movement, cellular nutrition, and storytelling to create spaces where people can regulate their nervous systems, reconnect to purpose, and feel a sense of belonging again. We also design cinematic healing experiences and community circles that make wellness accessible, immersive, and deeply human.

What sets Alma Wellness apart is our ability to bridge ancient wisdom with modern-day integration. Our approach is rooted in Indigenous values of reciprocity, respect for elders, and stewardship of the land, while also being practical, structured, and scalable for today’s communities. We are not just offering sessions—we are building replicable models of care that can be brought into senior living communities, rehabilitation centers, and underserved populations.

We are also the visionaries behind initiatives like:
• Heart Coherence Circles – guided group experiences that foster emotional regulation and connection
• Youth storytelling and leadership programs – empowering the next generation through voice and creativity
• Earth Angels RCFE – a holistic residential care model reimagining how we honor and care for our elders

What we are most proud of, brand-wise, is our commitment to integrity, inclusivity, and impact. Even in the face of adversity, Alma Wellness has remained anchored in service—showing up for community members who are often overlooked, and creating spaces where healing is not a luxury, but a shared human right.

At a time when many wellness brands focus on individual optimization, Alma Wellness stands for collective healing. We believe that when one heart becomes coherent, it influences the whole field. Our mission is to activate that field—locally and globally—through experiences that are accessible, culturally rooted, and profoundly transformative.

What we want readers to know is simple:
This is not just a brand. It is a movement back to wholeness.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Starting something meaningful—especially work rooted in service—can feel both inspiring and overwhelming. One of the most important things to understand early on is this: clarity and consistency matter more than perfection.

In the beginning, you may feel called to do many things at once. That’s natural. But what truly builds momentum is choosing a clear direction and taking steady, grounded action. You don’t need everything figured out—you just need to stay in motion while refining your vision as you go.

One thing I wish I understood earlier is how important structure and protection are for your mission. If you’re building a business or nonprofit, take time to understand your legal framework, your financial systems, and your boundaries with people. Not everyone who shows interest is aligned, and not every opportunity is meant for you. Discernment is just as important as passion.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of documentation and communication. Keep records, put agreements in writing, and be clear about roles and expectations. This protects both your work and your energy.

At the same time, remember why you started. When things get difficult—and they will—come back to your purpose. Let that anchor you, but don’t let it blind you to reality. A strong mission still needs practical execution.

Finally, build community, but build it wisely. Surround yourself with people who not only believe in your vision, but who also bring integrity, accountability, and real skill to the table. You don’t have to do it alone, but you do have to be intentional about who you walk with.

If there’s one thing to carry with you, it’s this:
Stay rooted in your purpose, but learn how to operate in the real world.
That balance is what allows a vision to actually grow and last.
