Today we’d like to introduce you to Andi Metzler.
Hi Andi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I never set out to become a sleep consultant. I was a high school Spanish teacher before becoming a mom, and after my daughter, was born, I was barely surviving. I was exhausted, going to bed at 7:00 every night, and just trying to make it through each day. Desperate for help, I hired a sleep consultant. Within just three nights, my daughter was sleeping through the night, and it honestly changed my life. I had more patience with my preschooler, started spending evenings with my husband again instead of collapsing into bed, and finally began to feel like myself again. That experience made such an incredible impact on our family that I knew I wanted to help other parents experience that same transformation so I headed to Florida and began my certification program.
Almost ten years later, I still can’t believe I get to do this for a living. I’ve worked with hundreds of families here in California and with parents from around the world. Most of the moms I talk to have already tried everything they can think of. They’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and often wondering if their child will ever sleep through the night. I love helping them realize that there isn’t anything “wrong” with their child—or with them. They simply need a plan that’s tailored to their family, along with someone to guide and encourage them through the process.
One of the things I love most about this work is that every family is different. There’s never a cookie-cutter solution, and that’s what keeps it interesting after all these years. The best part is getting a text from a parent saying, “We all slept last night!” Knowing I’ve helped a family get back to enjoying life together never gets old.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not. I knew nothing about business before I started. The learning curve was steep. I knew immediately that I loved working with the families and speaking engagements (not so different from being a teacher). But I had to find some grit to figure out all of the backend parts of the business. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s worth delegating and hiring out so that my valuable time is well spent
I also learned quickly that I needed strong boundaries with families so that I didn’t burn out. I needed to feel like I still had something to give to my own family at the end of the day. My work stays in my office.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Andi Metzler Sleep Consulting?
Andi Metzler Sleep Consulting helps exhausted families get the sleep they need so they can enjoy being parents again (I get the feeling). I work with children from newborn through 8 years old, helping families establish healthy sleep habits through education, guidance, and plenty of encouragement along the way.
What sets my business apart is the level of support my clients receive. Learning new sleep habits can feel overwhelming, and parents often have lots of questions as they go. I pride myself on being incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, patient, and accessible throughout the process. I don’t just hand families a plan and wish them luck—I walk alongside them, helping them troubleshoot challenges, celebrate progress, and build confidence every step of the way. That real-time support often makes the difference between parents feeling stuck and families finding success quickly.
I also offer a level of flexibility that isn’t common in my field. Families in Ventura County and parts of Santa Barbara County can work with me in person, whether that’s coming into their home for hands-on support or even staying overnight to guide them through the first night of sleep training. For families outside the area, I provide virtual coaching and real-time support to clients across the country and around the world. No matter where a family lives, they never have to navigate the process alone.
One of the things I’m most proud of is that the majority of my business has grown through referrals from former clients, pediatricians, therapists, and local hospitals. There is no greater compliment than having a family trust me enough to recommend me to someone they love. After more than ten years, I still feel incredibly grateful that I get to help families through one of the most challenging seasons of parenthood.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I’ve taken a lot of time over the years to figure this one out. Initially, it was solely based on growth and income. I’ve slowly learned that flexibility and freedom are equivalent to success for me. I LOVE making my own schedule. Ten years in, I still feel incredibly grateful that I can take a yoga class at 10 am, go on a hike with a friend, or chaperone my kids’ field trip in the middle of the week.
