Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatsiana Kantsavaya.
Hi Tatsiana , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into photography began long before I moved to the United States. I was already working with a camera in Belarus, exploring visual storytelling and discovering the power of photography to connect with people. However, I always felt that I wanted more – more growth, more opportunities, and a chance to challenge myself on a bigger stage.
That desire is one of the reasons I moved to the United States. I believed that stepping outside my comfort zone and immersing myself in a completely new environment would allow me to expand my horizons and reach goals that once felt out of reach. Looking back, it was one of the most important decisions of my life.
While photography started in Belarus, it took on an entirely new meaning in America. Los Angeles, with its creative energy, diversity, and endless possibilities, inspired me to see my work differently. It pushed me to refine my artistic vision, develop my own style, and think bigger about what I wanted to create and achieve.
Building a photography business in Los Angeles has been both exciting and challenging. Along the way, I have had my work published in magazines, collaborated with brands, models, and entrepreneurs, and continued to evolve as both an artist and entrepreneur.
Today, I focus on creating meaningful imagery that helps people see themselves with confidence and authenticity. While I am proud of how far I have come, I believe I am only at the beginning of an exciting journey. My goal is to continue growing internationally, creating impactful visual stories, and inspiring others to pursue their dreams, no matter where they begin.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but I believe the challenges have been some of my greatest teachers.
One of the biggest challenges was moving from Belarus to the United States and starting over in a completely new environment. Building a career in a new country means adapting to a different culture, creating a network from scratch, and proving yourself in a highly competitive market. Los Angeles is filled with incredibly talented creatives, which can be both inspiring and intimidating.
Shortly after arriving in the United States, my camera was stolen. As a photographer, it felt devastating. Instead of giving up, I bought a simple point-and-shoot camera and continued creating. Photography was never just about the equipment for me – it was about the passion, creativity, and determination to keep moving forward no matter the circumstances.
Another challenge was realizing that I needed to rebuild my portfolio and adapt my work to a new market. What works in one country does not always resonate in another. I spent a lot of time studying the industry, understanding client expectations, refining my style, and learning how I could bring unique value to the market. It required patience, flexibility, and a willingness to continuously evolve.
Like many creatives, I have also experienced moments of self-doubt and uncertainty. However, those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting the process even when progress feels slow.
Looking back, I am grateful for every challenge because each one pushed me to become stronger, more confident, and more focused on my goals. They taught me that success is rarely a straight line, but persistence, adaptability, and passion can take you much further than you imagine.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Los Angeles-based photographer specializing in portrait, fashion, lifestyle, editorial, and personal branding photography. My work ranges from individual portraits and creative projects to collaborations with brands, models, entrepreneurs, and creatives.
I am drawn to creating images that feel both authentic and visually impactful. Whether I am working on a personal branding session, a fashion story, or a campaign for a brand, my goal is to create photographs that tell a story and leave a lasting impression.
Since moving to the United States, I have continued to develop my artistic style, build meaningful collaborations, and have my work published in magazines. One of the things I am most proud of is building a career in a new country while constantly pushing myself to grow creatively.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine an editorial eye with a personal approach. I want every project to feel intentional, authentic, and visually strong while making the people in front of my camera feel confident and comfortable.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success is having the courage to follow your dreams, even when the outcome is uncertain.
Moving from Belarus to the United States taught me that success is not only about results – it is about growth, resilience, and staying committed to what you love. Every challenge, every new opportunity, and every step outside my comfort zone has helped shape who I am today.
As a photographer, success means creating meaningful work, continuing to evolve creatively, and building a life where passion and purpose come together. If I can wake up excited about what I do and keep growing both personally and professionally, I consider myself successful.
