Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Jurgens.
Hi Justin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
British Sports Cars was founded in 1980 by Peter Jurgens. He left Manchester England for California and landed here in San Luis Obispo. He didn’t know at the time but California was a hot spot for British cars.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Business is constantly changing. No business is easy but we adapt and move forward with new Technology and skills.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
British Sports Cars specializes in the parts, sales, service, and restoration of British vehicles. We are the only shop on the Central Coast of California that does this. Coming in our shop, you will see vehicles that are turn-of-the-century, as well as late-model vehicles such as Jaguars, Land Rovers, Rolls-Royces, and Bentleys. There’s over a hundred-year span of vehicles constantly in our building.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
One of the biggest challenges in our industry is the constant need to adapt and evolve. We’re always learning new techniques, discovering better ways to repair and restore vehicles, and staying current with advances in technology. The internet is an invaluable resource, both for recruiting skilled employees and for accessing technical information and repair data.
The market itself is constantly changing as well. Vehicle desirability shifts over time based on demographics, generational interests, and broader market trends. Cars that were highly sought after a decade ago may be less popular today, while others are gaining new appreciation. Staying ahead of these trends and understanding where the market is headed is a critical part of our business.
