Inspiring Conversations with Carlos Erding of The Platinum Djs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Erding.

Carlos, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
This is how Platinum DJs was created. Since I was a kid and young, I’ve always been attracted to entrepreneurship, being a young boss, starting new businesses, and not having a job. Since I was in my early twenties, I started ecommerce, Amazon FBA, and drop shipping. I was motivating people and giving ecommerce classes. At the same time, I love music, always did. I actually became a pretty popular underground heavy bass DJ, and that’s what I did until the pandemic hit. That’s a whole other story. But I couldn’t just put two and two together. I couldn’t be a DJ and be my own boss too. So that’s how the plan for Platinum DJs was born. I created a business model where I now have fifteen DJs working for me. I own four photo booths. I’m running Meta ads, which is somewhat related to ecommerce, and my ad campaigns are actually bringing me ninety percent of all my leads. I’m closing about a hundred and fifty events a year. I’m keeping my DJs busy, and I’m also doing my best to build relationships with wedding planners, event planners, and other vendors so I can get referrals. Now I am one hundred percent on my own from this business. No jobs. I actually accomplished the dream I wanted, which was to pay all my bills from my business, and that’s what I’m doing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle for me was the initial investment in DJ equipment. I got rejected from loans, so I was doing Uber twelve hours a day and taking any job I could so I could purchase DJ equipment. That was nearly fifteen thousand dollars worth of equipment. That was really hard for me. I also had to save because I needed to launch advertisements. So on top of all that money, I needed to invest monthly. It was very scary because the first time I ran ads, I only had five hundred dollars, and that’s exactly the amount I put into my ads. So that was really hard. But the following month, once I had the equipment, launched the ads, my social media account were set and everything else I closed seven events. I was super happy.

Another big challenge a the biggest challenge was going from an underground heavy bass DJ to now doing open formats for weddings and corporate events. Learning was like learning how to DJ again. It was super stressful, but I got in touch with other DJs. I learned from working for other dj companies, and that was a big challenge. Learning all that music that I didn’t listen to before was rough, but I figured it out. I think the other big challenge was just learning, growing, and upgrading equipment. A lot of money up front.

Started the business on Feb 2023. It’s crazy how fast it’s grown my best month was may 2026 my business generated 22k gross let’s gooooo
