Life & Work with Bobbie Frandeen of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbie Frandeen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My mom, Deborah, purchased Interior Vision Flooring & Design in May 2003. Two years later, as a 21-year-old mother with two children under the age of two, I was looking for a new direction in my career. As the business continued to grow, Deborah invited me to join the Interior Vision team, offering not only an opportunity to build a career but also the flexibility to bring my little ones, ages one year and five months, with me to work.

What started as helping with office support quickly grew into a lifelong passion. Today, more than 21 years later, I am proud to serve as part owner and Sales Manager, working alongside an incredible team of fifteen professionals. Throughout this journey, my family has grown as well, and being a mother of three has only strengthened my appreciation for creating beautiful, functional spaces that families can enjoy for years to come.

I am grateful for the opportunity Deborah gave me all those years ago and proud to help continue the legacy of Interior Vision Flooring & Design.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles in my career was developing the confidence needed to succeed in sales. Coming from an office support role, networking, public speaking, and approaching potential clients did not come naturally to me. To grow my business, I attended networking events, participated in business groups, and cold-called on construction job sites. It was uncomfortable at first, but I knew I had to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Over time, I gained confidence, built meaningful relationships, and developed a strong client base by focusing on honest service and genuine connections within my community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in helping clients take their spaces from ordinary to exceptional. I really enjoy getting to know my clients, understanding how they use their space, and then recommending flooring, window treatments, and design elements that fit both their lifestyle and aesthetic goals. My expertise includes automated window coverings, sustainable flooring solutions, and paint color coordination. What I love most is seeing a client’s vision come together and knowing I’ve helped create a space that’s both beautiful and functional.

What’s next?
Over the next five years, one of my primary goals is to purchase the remaining ownership of the business from my mom, Deborah, as she prepares for retirement. Having worked alongside her for more than two decades, I am honored to continue the legacy she built and lead the company into its next chapter.

I also hope to expand our business by opening a second showroom dedicated primarily to window coverings. As demand for custom and automated window treatments continues to grow, I see an exciting opportunity to create a specialized space where clients can explore the latest products, technologies, and design solutions.

My overall goal is to continue growing the business while maintaining the personalized service, strong relationships, and family values that have been the foundation of our success.
