Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Goodwin.
Hi Shane, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I landed in Morgan Hill California around thirteen years ago. I took my plumbing experience and served this community in every way possible. While suffering from parental alienation I didn’t care too much about my life so I figured why not give it to the people. About ten years passed and my patience with family court in San Antonio Texas grew thin and my girlfriend cat the time….still together by the way had lost a baby and her sister at 29 years old all in one year. I took some time ….about two years to heal and build a water filtration system that can serve the entire home, anyone can build and will last a lifetime while costing the least possible to maintain. I built the final product…..formed a plan and came back home to Morgan Hill. Yes two years ago I left behind hundreds of five star reviews and a good life. But being alienated from your children is no joke let alone the extra pain that was being inflicted because life be lifein. Anyhow I get back home to find out that some of the other plumbers in town are running rampant charging 30000 to people for something that should cost 300 lying cheating and stealing like pirates. Hence the Plumbing Preacher is born. We are building filtration systems, teaching folks how to do it themselves, fighting against dirty plumbers, helping to support the good ones and whatever else we can do to try and make the world just a bit better. I have never made much money here in all of these years. We cook on a hot plate, we live humble as hell. My credit cards are always maxed. But God always provides. We will always serve our people none the less.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I already wrote a lot. Struggles? Everyone struggles until we realize that they aren’t struggles but rather things that happen. Here today gone tomorrow so theres never a reason for sorrow. Minutes or days from now miracles follow. It’s hard for us to swallow but once we do our eyes open wide and we see it’s true. Oh yeah I rhyme too. My wife holds down the household duties. I work relentlessly from sun up to sun down building every single piece myself. If it’s on the web, the bench or in a clients home…..she and I built it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are legal but I hate the word business. I prefer to think of us as doing our part for the collective.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Do it all yourself until you get lucky and people find a way to help……stay loyal as hell to those ones they are rare. This keeps you safe from snakes and next to the greats.
