Conversations with Emerson Majano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emerson Majano.

Hi Emerson, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Emerson Majano, and my journey has been driven by a passion for food, culture, and storytelling. Growing up in a Honduran family, food was always at the center of bringing people together. That passion led me to pursue a culinary education at the Institute of Culinary Education in Los Angeles, where I refined my skills and developed a deeper understanding of the culinary industry.
Over the years, I’ve worked in restaurants, private events, and culinary consulting, eventually becoming a Chef Administrator and Culinary Consultant at Surfas Culinary District. My role has allowed me to develop recipes, manage food programs, and help culinary professionals find the right products and solutions for their businesses.
Beyond the kitchen, I discovered a love for media and television. Today, I combine my culinary expertise with my passion for entertainment by appearing as a television chef on Spanish-language programs, including Telemundo’s *Acceso Total* and Vision Latina’s *Mañana Latina*. Through these platforms, I share approachable recipes, celebrate Latino culture, and inspire others to explore cooking in a fun and accessible way.
Currently, I am also pursuing a degree in TV, Film, and Electronic Media at Pasadena City College, where I continue to develop my skills as a communicator, content creator, and on-camera personality. My goal is to bridge the worlds of food and media, creating content that educates, entertains, and celebrates the rich diversity of our communities.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many people pursuing their dreams, I have had to balance multiple responsibilities while working toward my goals. Throughout my journey, I have worked full-time while attending college, building my career in the culinary industry, and pursuing opportunities in television and media.

One of the biggest challenges has been managing time and staying focused while wearing many hats at once. There were moments when I questioned whether I could successfully balance work, school, and my personal ambitions. Breaking into television as a chef also required me to step outside my comfort zone, build confidence on camera, and learn how to connect with audiences in a meaningful way.

The culinary industry itself can be demanding, with long hours, high expectations, and constant pressure to perform at your best. However, those experiences taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of continuous growth.

Looking back, every challenge helped shape who I am today. They taught me that success is not about having a perfect path but about staying committed to your goals, adapting to change, and continuing to move forward even when things get difficult.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a chef, culinary consultant, and television personality who is passionate about making food approachable, creative, and culturally meaningful. Professionally, I work in the culinary industry, specializing in recipe development, culinary consulting, product knowledge, food presentation, and live cooking demonstrations. In addition to my culinary career, I regularly appear on television, sharing recipes and culinary content with audiences across Southern California and beyond.

I am best known for combining my culinary expertise with my ability to connect with people through media. Whether I am cooking on television, speaking at community events, or creating content online, my goal is to make cooking accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for everyone. I especially enjoy highlighting Latino flavors and traditions while presenting them in a modern and approachable way.

One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is building a career that bridges both the culinary and entertainment industries. Being able to share my passion for food on television while continuing to grow as a student in TV, Film, and Electronic Media has been incredibly rewarding. It has allowed me to connect with diverse audiences and inspire others to pursue their own passions.

What sets me apart is my unique combination of culinary knowledge, on-camera experience, and genuine passion for connecting with people. I am not only focused on creating great food—I am focused on telling stories, celebrating culture, and creating experiences that bring people together. Whether in a kitchen, a classroom, or on a television set, I strive to educate, entertain, and leave a positive impact on those around me.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that surprises many people is that my journey is not limited to the culinary world. While most people know me as a chef and television personality, I am also deeply involved in media, storytelling, and entertainment. I am currently pursuing a degree in TV, Film, and Electronic Media because I believe food is about more than recipes—it is about connecting people and sharing stories.

Another thing many people do not know is that I am a musician. Growing up, I played the güira and participated in musical performances and cultural events. Music, much like food, has always been a way for me to connect with my roots and bring people together.

I think these different passions—food, television, music, and culture—have shaped who I am. They have taught me how to communicate, entertain, and connect with people from all walks of life. While cooking is what first opened doors for me, my broader goal is to inspire others by showing that it is possible to pursue multiple passions and create a career that reflects who you truly are.
