Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Lewis.
Hi lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After I got out of college, I thought I was going to go into physical therapy. My degree is in kinesiology so it made sense but I just didn’t have the heart for it like I did for the beauty community. I decided to take a lash extension course and started working in my bedroom on clients in my area and got popular in my city! Covid happened not even a year after I got started which made me doubt the path I had chosen, but I stayed the course and after being closed for a few months my clients welcomed me back and my books were full! I had enough clientele to get my own salon suite which taught me so much , I was working 8-12 hour days while trying to maintain a work life balance. I went to school and got my esthetician license and have been in the business now for 7 years! I mainly focus on Korean Lash Lifts now which has my books completely full! I’m just so humbled and honored to be here in the beauty industry after all this time and I’m so proud to be here and to have so many of my clients still with me for the journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The economy has really slowed things down for us in the beauty community. I can’t blame anyone , I’m a paying customer too I see how bad things can get!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been able to retain my clients over the last seven years, which has been such a blessing! I’ve grown with them and they have grown also with me and just my technique and the way that I do Lashes! Over the last year I have really prioritize the way that I showcase myself on social media, I have gotten so much business from being more open on there! I have had to adapt to how people want to see my work, so I put in the extra time to take content and edit my videos or pictures to have them presentable on both Instagram and TikTok!
How do you think about happiness?
Waking up and doing something, I love every day makes me happy, my family and friends, having hobbies that fulfill my spare time! It’s really important to find joy in the little things, and I think that I’ve successfully done that! It’s taken a while to be where I am so I am grateful. You have to choose happiness and yourself , at the end of the day you have to be content with the choices you make!
