Daily Inspiration: Meet Traci

Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci.

Hi Traci, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have a few things going on. I am an ER nurse and wrote a book called survive the hospital be your own advocate! It’s about how horrible our system is, how to change it, and how to be your own advocate in the system we are in now.

I also joined in on a company called cpr cart. It’s an automated cpr mannequin for medical professionals to renew their cpr, acls, and pals, certifications. They are located across the country. It’s all on line on your own time, then go to the mannequin and do your skills test.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Publishing the book was the most challenging part of writing the book. I found companies that wanted to publish it. But, they wanted to take 90% of my profits. So, I decided to self publish, which took over a year to do. Very challenging. I find it sad that the publishing companies make most of the profit off your hard work.

The cpr cart business was not too terribly challenging. Just learning all the ins and outs of dealing with other states. It’s a big learning curve.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a nurse and specialized in the ER for 14 yrs. After covid I decided to spread my wings to other specialties, pre-op, PACU, OR, IR, moderate sedation, GI lab. I needed a break after all that death.

I was a firefighter/paramedic as well as a commercial diver in my past and now finished all my ratings to be a commercial pilot.

I am an athlete as well and was boxing to compete in the Olympics. I got very close to making the team.

I am always uo for a new challenge.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’d call myself a risk taker. Getting into the cpr cart business was a good amount of money to put down. Luckily it is doing okay.

Becoming a firefighter as a woman was a big risk as well. Along with commercial diver. All very male oriented jobs. I had my challenges there, having to constantly prove myself.

Same with spending almost 90,000 on all the pilot training. That’s not an easy job to break into.

I have played multiple sports, ice hockey, soccer, boxing, football….
