Daily Inspiration: Meet Kyle Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Miller.

Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always was around photography growing up as a kid, my dad always had cameras was always taking photos of our family, sports, weddings, etc. I really started getting into photography back in 2013 then in 2016 after high school I used my dads Fujifilm XT-1 and learned on that doing free shoots for people then eventually started my own company “Valley Visuals”. I came up with the name by I wanted to be different I wanted to stand out. I didn’t want my name on it. I wanted people to look at the work at the account and be like “who’s this valley visuals person? Like who is this”. I grew up in the Porterville in the Central Valley of California, so that’s where the “Valley” part comes in. I wanted to serve my community wanted to represent it in a way that was fun. Now I’m out in the beautiful Central Coast residing in San Luis Obispo where I really get to get a whole different style than what I was before. I’m still shooting all the things I used to like cars, portraits, brands but now I get to throw in surfing and everything the coast has to offer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never just been a smooth road. From balancing what at the time was my hobby to doing it all the time with my full time job was always a struggle. Due to work I was only able to shoot with clients certain days and times of the week and then the editing comes in spending hours on weekends after shoots trying to get good quality photos & videos out in a short amount of time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I don’t specialize in one certain kind of photography. If people look at my page they will see a lot of cars or automotive shoots that’s just something I like to take photos of but I love taking photos & videos of everything I have a very wide range of shoots I have done. I would say I’m known for my style of editing and the creative aspect I try and bring out in every shoot.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
When people see my work and have a reaction from it. Whether it’s a good or bad reaction, MY photo or video is the one that made them feel whatever it is they felt. Without it they would never have that opinion.
