Today we’d like to introduce you to Master Hope Zweig.
Hi Master Hope, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey began at age 11, more than 49 years ago, when I started training in Taekwondo. From the beginning, it felt natural, as if it had always been a part of me. What began as a personal interest soon grew into a lifelong passion for martial arts, leadership, and helping others grow. Over the years, I earned my 5th Degree Black Belt and committed myself to teaching students of all ages.
Today, as the owner and head instructor of Hope’s Taekwondo, I focus on developing not only skilled martial artists but also strong individuals. I take pride in building a school that fosters confidence, discipline, and respect. It is about more than physical training. It is about philosophy, mindset, and guiding students to discover their full potential.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My greatest challenges have never been external. They have been internal. The real work has been continuing to grow as a person so I can show up as the best instructor, mentor, and leader possible for my students.
For me, martial arts has always been a journey of self-development. Each stage of life brings new lessons, and I believe the more I grow, the more I can help others grow as well.
I have been fortunate that when I step onto the mat, everything else falls away. Teaching and training put me completely in the zone. After nearly five decades in Taekwondo, I still find joy, purpose, and growth in every class I teach.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the owner and head instructor of HOPE’s Taekwondo, where I have dedicated nearly five decades to the study and teaching of martial arts. I specialize in helping students of all ages develop confidence, discipline, resilience, and strong character through traditional Taekwondo training.
What I am most proud of is not the belts I have earned, but the lives I have impacted. Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching students grow from shy beginners into confident leaders, and many have trained with me for years as part of our martial arts family.
What sets me apart is my commitment to personal growth and my belief that martial arts is about much more than kicking and punching. Every class is an opportunity to teach life skills, leadership, respect, perseverance, and self-confidence. I strive to meet each student where they are and help them become the best version of themselves.
After nearly 50 years in Taekwondo, I still approach every class with the same passion and purpose that inspired me when I first stepped onto the mat. My goal has always been simple: to make a positive difference in the lives of others through martial arts.
What does success mean to you?
Doing what you love.
